Androgel Losing Its Effect

Have been on Androgel 1% for 3 months very low testosterone started with 4 pumps daily very little increase in energy level went to 8 pumps daily, fantastic great energy level, libido terrific numbers went over 700. Dr cut me back to 6 pumps daily, the last 5 days I fell like right back where I started low energy, no erections for 5 days, waiting to hear back from Dr.

It sounds to me like your body has become more dependent on the Androgel and therefore hasn't felt the need to make enough of it's own testosterone. Suddenly changing doses or the number of pumps is probably what's putting your body back into a state of withdrawal or just feeling "down".

I'm no doctor, but in my opinion it may have been wiser to taper down or up in increments of 1 pump at a time instead of leaping up and down with the dosage like that.

Are you also exercising regularly and eating well? These also play a crucial role in regulating testosterone levels.

Thanks for the reply I am waiting to hear from the Dr but I do excersise daily and my eating habits have not changed,I use to take Ibuprofen every AM for back, knees after I was on androgel for a few days I stopped the Ibuprofen because I felt terrific when I got up, but over the last 6 days I am back on it, I was getting very good erections up until a week ago especially in AM hae only had 2 erections in the last 5 days and had to work hard to get them,I will wait and see what the DR has to say.
