Ampyra Headaches (Page 3)

Updated

I have been taking Ampyra for 4 days. I have noticed a decrease in fatigue but headaches daily. The question is will they eventually go away on their own, or do I skip a day and see if they stop or quit til I see the doc ?

I have been on Ampyra for about 3 months now. The first few weeks it seemed to be working but now I am not so sure. I feel like I am back to how I was before. I am afraid to stop taking it in case I have gotten worse and this is at least keeping me where I was. Anybody else improve and then go back?

This is my third month on Ampyra. I felt better immediately but like many of you in the third month I feel a bit worse. I did develop a UTI and it sems to have exacerbated my symptoms. But I LOVE AMYPRA and am afraid to stop feel that maybe I'll get back to how I felt the first two months. I was able to put IV's in patients again and could feel my fingertips and toes again. I had more energy and I frequently would forget my cane ony to look for a few moments later and laughed as I went to find it. But now...I wouldn't think about walking away from it, Again I hope with the resolution of the UTI I will feel better again.

I have PPMS and am in a chair. Have been on Ampyra for 2 months and can tell a difference when i'm on it. Not as much walking but feel more confident when I do stand. I don't have as severe of tremors in my arms & hands. When I don't take it I can really tell, Very fatigued, tremors, wobbly when I stand. I hope my insurance will help me out again with the cost.

I have been off Ampyra for just over a week. I ran out waiting for my doctor to get back in town and authorize continuing on the drug. I realize it was doing something as I am getting stiffer everyday I am off of it.I think when you feel better you forget how bad you were before. I am hoping to be back on soon.

I am SPMS - can use a walker for limited distance and a power scooter other times. Started first week on Ampyra with one pill at night then went to two pills (morning & night from week 2 - 4. I was feeling improvement in my legs and week 5 began some work with a balance beam and fence walking, but this weekk got hit with severe lower back pain! I do have some spinal stenosis (slight hump curvature). Stopped taking it and after 3 days began to be able to move again and pain diminishing. At its worse I could not even stretch my legs or rollover the bed - fell out twice. Have there been similar experiences?

Has anyone tried stopping meds for a short time and restarting again to see if they have the same effect they had when you originally started taking meds?

I have been on Ampyra for 7 days. I did have the back pelvic bone area pain for the first 4 days. It is almost untolerable to walk o top my weak legs and tingling legs. I took some pain med with some relief. I noticed some dent on stamina and walking speed. I still drag my legs on certain occasion, so I will keep monitoring. (RRMS - Dx '97).

Yes, I stopped after the pain experience but picked up again a month later. No problems and its been 3 months. I am also seeing some greater strength in the legs.

I was an ampyra for 2-3 weeks and it worked super. I was walking great. Then it stopped working. I am not sure if I stop taking meds and begin again if it will have the same effect. What did you do?

I have been on Ampyra for months. Had to take a break while I was in hospital having my colon removed - then 17 days of in-hospital rehab because of complications of surgery. Absolutely no pain in hospital (even after I quit the drugs). Now that I have been back on Ampyra for 4 months pain in absolutely every joint in my body is occurring. Anyone else see this? I don't know what to do! Because of my situation - surgery - rehab - in-home
rehab - I don't know if it helps or not! I have PPMS and not taking any other MS drug. Took Avonex for 13 years.
