Amphetemine Salts Are Not Helping Me With My Add

I’m a female,19, 5’2, and 120 pounds. I have bad ADD, and I finally got medication for it. My insurance was not able to cover Adderall so they had to give me a generic brand labeled as just “Amphetemine Salts”. Each tablet was 5mg and they instructed me to just take 2 in the morning for now. I took 2 but I felt no difference and was slightly disappointed. The only thing I realized was that after 5 hours I would get more irritable and fatigued. So the next day I decided to take 3 tablets (15mg) to see if that would improve my focus, I ended up feeling more forgetful than I normally am and felt no difference or improvement again. So the next day I decided to take 4 tablets (20mg average dose for adults) but i still did not feel an improvement or any difference. I did 4 tablets again the next day and nothing.. I only got really irritated 5 hours after and extremely tired and fatigue. I don’t know if it’s because it’s a generic brand or I need a higher dose, but does anyone have an idea why this is happening? I have really bad ADD and I really want to improve

Not every medication works for everyone that tries it, additionally, not all of them work immediately, sometimes you have to take them for about 3 to 4 weeks, before you know how well they will work for you. It is not a good idea to take more than you have been instructed to take, especially since the FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming. Other side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache, irritability, insomnia, nervousness, and anorexia, which may explain the other issues you have been experiencing.

How long have you been taking it, now? Has there been any change? Are you on any other medications?

You may need to try a different medications, but please don't keep raising your dose, without your doctor's approval.
