Is 1 teaspoon twice a day of 400 mg Amoxicillin suspension what your doctor prescribed? If so, I don't see why it wouldn't be correct. I have been taking it for 5 days to cure my ear infection. I started having upper chest pain and it's not sharp nor consistent. Do I need to worry about it? I Need to know how long do i need to use a back up methoid of birth control. ## I don't know which brand or type of birth control you are taking, but with the information provided, I'm assuming you are just referring to amoxicillin + clavulanate. Is that correct? The half-life of amoxicillin after the oral administration of amoxicillin + clavulanate potassium tablets is 1.3 hours and that of clavulanic acid is 1 hour. In general, most medical experts agree that it takes up to 5 half-lives for the drug to be completely out of your system. Is this a sulfa base drug ## From what I can this is not a sulfa based drug, as Amoxicillin does not appear to be on the list of sulfonamides I found (only two other antibiotics were listed). I don't know however, if this list is a complete list or partial list of sulfa based medications. For this reason, it may be a good idea to double check with your local pharmacy regarding this pill. Took amox tr-k clv dosage within 3 hours, will I be ok? Just noticed bottle says on the back in little print take every 12 hours ! I am 12weeks pregnant and 2days ago I started having really bad tooth ache my GP said it could be some kind of infection and gave me Betamox 500mg to take. Is it safe to take this so early in my pregnancy? ## Based on my research, Betamox (amoxicillin) has been assigned to pregnancy category B by the FDA. "Animal studies using 10 times the human dose have failed to reveal any evidence of teratogenicity. Although no controlled data in human pregnancy are available, literature reports of adverse fetal effects are lacking. Amoxicillin is only recommended during pregnancy when benefit outweighs risk." I have read that Doxycycline is harsher on the gastrointestinal tract than Amoxicillin, so that is something to take into consideration. Is there any difference between this and Amoxicillin for my dog? ## Although both medications have similar indications with regards to the variety of infections they treat, they are still two different types of antibiotics with different chemical structures, side effects, dosages, potency, absorption rates, etc; which all play a significant role in how well your dog may react and respond to each medication. So to answer your question, I wouldn't consider them equal for canines or humans. Doxycycline is in a class of medications called tetracycline antibiotics. I have a bladder infection that makes my urinating urgent and sometimes uncontrollable. I was given a prescription for smz-tmp to treat it. Like an idiot I started the prescription but never finished it because I was also given amoxicillin to treat an infection in my tooth then panicked cause I was taking both of them at once and I was scared of overdoing it. Now months later I'm having some serious lower back pain and I'm considering finishing both prescriptions in hopes to make a full regimen. I have enlargement of lymph nodes, can I use Amox K Clav 500-125? ## @Frank, Even though infections are the most common cause of swollen lymph nodes, it's not necessarily the only cause. For this reason I'd still encourage you to speak with your doctor about diagnosing the cause, before taking an antibiotic (if in fact you end up not needing to take it). In the event that it is an infection, Amoxicillin + Clavulanate Potassium (500 mg - 125 mg) does cover a broad spectrum of bacteria, so in my opinion it may be a feasible approach. I 'm on treatment with this medication for ten days, after I've been diagnosed Diverticulosis. After days @ the hospital with another antibiotic, Dr sent me home with Amox Tr-K- CLV. 875-125 Mg Tab Since I started this oral antibiotic I noticed that my eses are dark brown and came with a yellow fluid. The first day was diarrhea but now is a little more firm.
