Hi...I am no longer insured because of my job change; before that i was visiting the dentist on a regular basis. He prescribed me some amoxicillin for an infection..right i didn't follow the rules and finished the amoxicillin. Now my infection is back. Is it ok to take a few to get the swelling down? Thank you! ## Hello, Jackie! How are you? Most prescription medications are good for one year from the date you receive them from your pharmacy, according to the NIH, unless they are still in the original factory sealed container. They do not become dangerous, once expired, but they do start to lose effectiveness, so they may not fully eradicate the infectious bacteria, which creates the risk of your developing antibiotic resistance. The FDA lists its typical side effects of this medica...

I have been taking Amoxicillin for 5 days now. After 2nd dose I had severe gas pain in lower right intestine, but that passed. I take probiotics, and added yogurt which helped that. I have gone back and forth with diarrhea and constipation, mostly diarrhea. Have headaches on and off with this as well. I began having a bit of vaginal soreness Saturday, and now 4 days later it is getting worse. Severe itching, rawness, and also anal itching and rawness. Sex is extremely painful, and just wearing clothes hurts. I am thinking I may be having a severe reaction to this drug. Calling Doctor today. Also taking Flonase, or the generic, which is a steriod. I am sensitive to those as well, so don't know which is the cause, since both were prescribed at the same time. ## Yup this is the 2nd tim...

my husband was prescribed 500mg Amoxicillin 2 twice a day. He has one kidney and a bad heart, is this too much for him? ## Hello, Andrea! How is your husband doing? He should take the dosage as directed by his doctor, there is far greater risk to letting an infection continue out of control. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash, and diarrhea. Is there anything else I can help with?

How are you doing? I am sorry that you are feeling so miserable. Has there been any change? Have you consulted a dentist, or oral surgeon? I think that would be the best idea, in order to get to the root of the problem. As to Amoxicillin, they are not time rel...

I accidentally took two doses of amoxicillin-clavulan (prescribed after dental surgery) two hours apart...what should I do? ## Hello, Elby! How are you? Did you suffer any adverse effects? Unless you are allergic, or take a very high amount of them, you can't really overdose on an antibiotic. But you may experience more severe side effects than usual, which may include nausea, dizziness, headache, and diarrhea.

I have some amoxicillin that is 3 months old prescribed to me for my abscessed tooth can I still take it because my abscess is back ## There should be an expiration date on the bottle, once past that date, the best thing to do is dispose of it and obtain a new supply, if needed, from your doctor, or dentist. However, if you did not finish the full course of treatment originally, that may be why the infection has returned. Additionally, if you did not have the original underlying problem corrected, which caused the infection, that could also cause it to return. The FDA warns that this medication may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. ... and if you don't have enough left to finish a full course of treatment, you may find your...

I have a two year old prescription of amoxicillin from the dentist that I barely even touched. Now I'm showing syptoms of an UTI because I never drink any water. Would it be safe to take now? ## Hello Mike! How are you feeling? The first step to take would be to start drinking some water regularly. It is actually a misconception that you need to drink 8 8ounce glasses a day. That is the total amount of fluid your body needs for the day, but you do get a lot of it from your food and other beverages, so even adding just a glass or two of water can help. It is especially important for flushing out your kidneys, if you continue to avoid water, you may find yourself in kidney failure eventually. As to the Amoxicillin, medications lose effectiveness over time, so it will most likely not b...

I had symptoms of the flu and strep throat, but tested negative for both. I was prescribed 2 875MG tablets a day. These pictures are from before the first pill I took, and before the last. Before: img922/420/Pv7eD1.jpg After: img923/2637/ZJNbiO.jpg ## The general rule that the NIH lists for antibiotic is that, if is working, you shouldn't see any worsening after taking it for a full 24 hours, and you should start to see improvement after taking it for a full 3 days. The typical side effects, as listed by the FDA, may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash, and diarrhea. However, even if you've had some improvement, if things start seeming to get worse, again, you should consult a medical professional, because you may need a longer course of treatmen...

My Bulldog got bitten by another dog on his ear. I'm broke but I have amoxicillin 500mg. And amox TR-K CLV. HIS EAR IS INFECTED WHICH WOULD BE BEST ## Hi Gina, I'm so sorry to hear about what happened to your bulldog. A bite on the ear sounds pretty gnarly! In my honest opinion it would probably be best to contact a vet and get their approval before giving any sort of medication to your dog. However I don't think it is uncommon to hear about dogs being prescribed amoxicillin. According to standard pet medication dosage charts, the usual dose of amoxicillin in dogs is reportedly 5 to 10mg per pound, taken every 12 to 24 hours. Your local vet should be able to verify this and other pertinent information (including how many days it should be taken for and which type of amoxicil...

I have been takinng amoxicillin for my wisdom teeth surgery. I have been getting really bad headaches. Is this normal will it go away when I stop taking it ? I'm very uncomfortable ## Hello, Mel! How are you? Yes, that can be a side effect of this medication, as reported by the FDA, you may also experience nausea, dizziness, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. They should go away, but it may take a week, or so, after you finish your course of treatment. However, if they get worse, or don't go away, you should consult your doctor. Is there anything else I can help with?

I'd been having headaches for a month they tended to start in my nose and then above my eyebrows before turning into a proper headache so went to the doctors and they thought I had a sinus issue, I've been on them for 7 days finish my course tonight. However I've had two days, one today and one the day before yesterday where I've had bad headaches but the symptoms of sinus infections have gone,is this due to the antibiotics or another issue? Should I go back? I'm also on the pill so could it be that? ## Hello, Gee! How are you doing? Has there been any change? It's actually hard to say, the headaches can be a side effect of taking the antibiotic, as reported by the FDA, they can also be a symptom of a sinus infection, or it could be something entirely unrelated to...

Please tell me is amoxicillin the same as norco 325mgs? Dropped of script for norco 325 and came out with amoxicillin 500mg? Are they the same? ## Hello, Melissa! How are you? No, they are not the same, at all. Norco is a narcotic analgesic that contains Hydrocodone and Acetaminophen, it is used to relieve pain and the FDA warns that it carries the risk of being habit forming, plus it may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation and dry mouth. However, Amoxicillin is an antibiotic that is used to treat or prevent bacterial infections. Its typical side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. Have you informed your pharmacist?

My blood panel was all good except my platelets were low - 99. I'm on a 3rd round of augmentin clavanate for cat bite and then sinusitis. Would the medicine cause this? Last time it was 196. ## Hello, Peaches! How are you? It may just be due to the infection, IE: your sinusitis. Your doctor should recheck, once it has cleared up to see if the situation corrects itself. The FDA lists the typical side effects of antibiotics as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. Is there anything else I can help with?

My mom gave these to me for my tooth want to make sure they are amoxicillin250 with an A44on capsule before I take them ## Hello, Jazz! How are you? Yes, they are manufactured by Aurobindo Pharma and they list them as containing 250mgs of Amoxicillin, which is an antibiotic that is used to treat infections. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. However, you should see your dentist, to verify if an infection is present and to have them prescribe the appropriate treatment, if one is necessary. Is there anything else I can help with?

Can I use this Amoxicillin from 2013 for a. Sinus infection and ear infection my face is hurting and earache is it safe to take thus since it has expired what happens when amoxicillin expires ## Hello, Bambi! How are you? This medication does not become toxic, once expired, but it does start to lose efficacy, so it may not work as well as it did, when it was new, which also creates the risk of your developing antibiotic resistant bacteria. Thus, it would be best to see your doctor for a new prescription, if an infection is present. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. Is there anything else I can help with?

I had 4 teeth pulled out and had no infection...my gum is swollen and I'm on amoxicillin as well as tylenol #3 and chlorhexidine rinse. Everything was going good until I started the rinse yesterday. I know it's only been 2 days and some bruising is normal but my gum is swollen and hurts so bad. Should I keep using the rinse? Will it help heal my gum faster? ## Hello, Stephanie! How are you doing? Has there been any change? Yes, you should continue using it, as instructed. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including terrible taste, nausea and oral irritation. I know it is annoying, I had to use it for awhile, after I had all of my remaining teeth removed to get dentures, I didn't like it, either. As to the pain and swelling, that is normal, however, if it wor...

Took it for 1 week. 1 tab every 12 hours. I've taken them all. How will I know if the infection is gone? Dentist cleaned some out after an extraction. ## Hello, Emmalee! How are you? Are you experiencing any pain, swelling or foul breath odor? If not, then the antibiotic has most likely worked, since those are all potential symptoms of an infection as detailed by the NIH. However, only your dentist can say for sure by doing an exam. Was this your first extraction? Are you on any other medications?

I am having severe toothache and there is some infection also. As I am out of town I asked my dentist over phone. He prescribed mom 500 mg capsules ie Amoxicillin Tryhydrate. This is yellow capsules. Is it safe to use this ## Hello, Kala! How are you? This is an antibiotic that is commonly used to treat bacterial infections, so you should take it as prescribed. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. Is there anything else I can help with?

I was wondering if a large amount of amoxil & clavunate k 500/125mg 30 ( that's exactly what my capsule says on it)will make you feel oozy, drowsy or sleep. Because I was told to take 2tabs 3 times a day and to take with food. Seems sketchy to me because I've been prescribed to this medication. Before and last time is said to take 1 tab twice a day. Or is it depending how bad the illness is? My job is a bit far from home and I would like to be driving like this. ## Hello, Luan! How are you? Yes, the dose can be dependent on the severity of the infection being treated. The FDA lists the typical side effects of this antibiotic as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. Is there anything else I can help with?
