I started on amoxicillin March 15, 2017 for a 10 day course. I then started my cycle March 19, 2017 (just two weeks after my last cycle). It has not been heavy, just a very light bleeding. However today makes the 12th day. Is this normal? Also, should i start a new pack of birth control being that i am on my inactive days. I am taking birth control Tricylen-Lo. I just want to stop the bleeding already. Please help me! ## Some antibiotics alter the efficacy of hormonal contraceptives and may alter your cycle. Things should return to normal, once you are done with the antibiotic and start taking the active tablets, again, without interference, according to NIH reports. Has there been any change, yet? How are you doing, now? ## I'm back to normal now. I started my active pill and the ve...

I have a full bottle of these pills and my dog has a bladder infection. He is 126 lbs. Can I give him these? They expire in June so I won't be using them. ## Hi smokey, Based on my research, it should be ok for your dog as long as you're administering the correct dosage. The recommended dosage of Amoxicillin + Clavulanic acid is listed at 12.5mg (per kilogram of body weight). That amount is to be taken twice daily for treating most general infections (including UTI's). If you have any other questions pertaining to proper dosing or administration, you may also want to contact a local veterinary office, since they are well versed in this field of study. I hope this info helps and wish your dog a quick recovery! ## Hello, my 10 pound maltese has an ear infection. I have leftove...

It's a large oval white pill with 33 on one side and and X on the other. Can I use an open liquid amoxicillin for a 2 year old that I got on 11/03/2016? He's been messing with one of his ears. ## Hi Sara, I see you posted this back on December 28th 2016 so you may have already come to a consensus on what to do... But I would say that if it has been left open for nearly two months or longer then that's probably not something I would recommend taking. Liquid solutions in particular I believe are more susceptible to going bad than tablets. Not to mention that any impurities might have made their way into the open bottle during that time period. I also think the effort to get a fresh antibiotic will ultimately be worth while, to ensure the safety and efficacy of the treatment. My best wishes to you and your son!

I have bronchitis. I was given amoxicillin a week ago to take for dental work and I still have 16 left. Can i take this? ## Hello, Laverne! How are you? Why didn't you finish the antibiotic prescription for the dental work? Not doing so creates the risk of your developing antibiotic resistance as explained in various NIH research articles. As to taking it for the bronchitis, it depends on how severe it is and whether or not it is bacterial in origin. It would be best to see your doctor to make sure an appropriate medication is prescribed, if one is necessary. is this good for a common head cold and or sinus infection? ## Gimiclav contains the active ingredients Amoxicillin and Clavulanic Acid, it is an antibiotic and, as such, is only helpful at treating infections. Thus, it can be used for a sinus infection, however, it has no effectiveness against the common cold, since that is caused by a virus. If you use it improperly, you also run the risk of developing antibiotic resistant bacteria. Do you have any other questions? ## Can you please tell me if this gimaclav is drug free? I took my first dose of amoxicillin at 4pm can i take second midnight before i go to bed and then start regime tomorrow? ## Hi Kennett, The dosing instructions for Amoxicillin are largely dependent on the severity and type of infection you have. So unfortunately I can't offer you any specific dosing advice without knowing what type of infection you're taking it for. You may want to confirm dosing and administration details with your doctor if there's something unclear about your regimen. However, as a guideline, the usual adult dose of Amoxicillin for "most types of infections" is 500 mg orally 3 times a day or 875 mg orally twice a day for 7 to 10 days I hope this info helps! ## I had three back tooth removed yesterday by my oral surgeon doctor and was prescribed am...

Hi, what if my dog took a piece of a tablet that fell to the floor? Is it poison to dogs? Thanks ## Based on my research, drug companies do actually make Amoxicillin for both cats and dogs. So in my opinion your dog should probably be ok in the long run without any worries. However if your dog doesn't seem to be handling it well, I would still encourage you to bring the dog to your local vet and have it checked out. I hope this helps offer at least some relief knowing that Amoxicillin is often prescribed by vets. ## Thank you! ## I was seeking information on amox clav 875 mg tabs, as they related to ingestion by my dog.
