Hi my son is 4 months old and he has a dry cough and skin allergy (skin asthma) i bring him in the health center, and the doctor gave him amoxicillin trihydrate betamox 100mg/ml powder for suspension. my question is, this medicine is really the right medicine for my son's dry cough? cause as i've read that this kind of medicine is used to treat certain bacterial infections of the ear, nose, throat, lungs, skin or bladder. Betamox can also be used to prevent infection when you undergo certain dental procedures. is this really the right medicine for my 4 months old baby?

Hi, Rizza! How is your son doing?

And I have to agree with you, this is antibiotic that's only effective at treating bacterial infections, so it isn't likely to help with either issue.

Additionally, there are risks associated with giving it inappropriately, because it may cause someone to develop antibiotic resistant bacteria.

Has he had a fever, or any other signs of an infection?
