Amoxicillin Powder Without The Capsule

I have been prescribed teva 3109, which is Amoxicillin 500mg (for a tooth infection) & I can't swallow the pills. I wanted to know if it was possible to just take the powder that is inside the capsule? Will it still fight off the infection?

It will still fight the infection. I can't swallow pills either. I open it up and put the powder in applesauce and then take it that way.

Yes, just as Andria said, it will still be effective.

The FDA lists the typical side effects of this antibiotic as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, diarrhea, and non-allergic skin rash.

Just be careful not to take it with any type of grapefruit, or grapefruit juice.
