Amoxicillin For Ear Infection

I have 500mg Amoxicillin capsules for an ear infection and they are pink and blue. Last time I had an ear infection the capsules were red and yellow. I'm wondering if these were a different dosage, its been a few years but I believe they were slightly smaller. I'm hoping the ones I have now are a higher dose because it took a 4 week course to clear it up last time, and now I have a 2 month old daughter and have to stick cotton balls in my ears when she cries or I black out for a second from the pain. Last time my ear drum ruptured, I'm really hoping I've caught this early enough to prevent that happening because that kind of pain was atleast 100x worse than labor.

Based on the colors which you are describing for the capsules it sounds like you have the Amoxil brand of Amoxicillin manufactured by GlaxySmithKline. Here is an image:



If this is not what you have, then can you please respond with any specific letters or numbers appearing on the capsules? That is the only way to get a true ID.

Yeah those are the ones I have now. I am wondering about the red and yellow capsules I've had in the past, whether they are the same dosage or not.

On that list the red & yellow ones are Amoxil in Canada. That makes sense as I was living in the UK when I had that Rx. Thanks.

I too have these exact same pills and am starting to wonder about them. I have taken about 6 now for a throat infection and have had little if no effect on me. I'm thinking either I'm using them for the wrong purposes or I have developed a tolerance. Can you help me out?

Wow, I'm having the red and yellow capsule at the moment for an ear infection too. Did it seriously take 4 weeks to clear up? I can't live with an ear like this =(
The pain is unbearable sometimes.
I've had 4 dosages so far an it doesn't seem to be getting better either. If anything it feels as if it's getting worse. My ear completely blocked up today too =(

If you have Amoxicillin A45 does it contain sulfer?

I was prescribed amoxicillin 500mg for a throat infection, pills were cream color, I was prescribed amoxicillin again and bought them at a different pharmacy and pills are pink and dark blue or purple with A45 in black ink, are these pills amoxicillin, were they purchased here in the US or outside of US, should I be concede ex or are they safe to take?

Need nyquil for severe cold. But I take amoxicillin for hip pain one X daily.
Both contain acetaminophen. Can I take both? Nyquil pkg says to take 2 capsules at a time.

I'm on amoxicillin for a tooth that needs to get pulled out. They prescribed me 875mg twice daily. Can I do three times daily? Cause I feel the swelling is not going down and it's been 2 days.

My prescription for amoxicillin 875-125 says one pill twice a day for ten days, but I took pills twice a day for five days. Will I be ok?

My son is 3 months old and he has been suffering from a cough for 3 weeks. The doctor had already given cefpodoxime proxetil and now again he prescribed amoxicillin + potassium clavulanate. Is it necessary to give this many antibiotics for a cough?

My 2 and a half year old weighs 27 pounds and the Dr. at the urgent care prescribed her amoxicillin 5ml/400mg (5ml once a day for 10 days), but from what I can remember it's always been given twice a day for 10 days. Am I wrong?
