Amoxicillin Dosage For 1 Year Old
UpdatedMy daughter was given amoxicillin 250mg/5ml by her doctor for little ear and throat infection. On the second day after taking this medicine, my daughter started losing her voice. Now her voice barely comes out when she tries to talk or when she cries. Also she started getting cough specially while sleeping. I want to know is this another side effect of tis medicine and I stop giving her this medicine? If not, what is the correct dose i Should give her? She is 13 months old and 19 lbs.

Actually, if she had a throat infection, then those symptoms are most likely from that and not from the antibiotic.
The side effects from the antibiotic can include things like diarrhea, nausea and non-allergic skin rash.
Learn more Amoxicillin details here.
And the dose is based on her weight, so that's right from the conversion charts I'm looking at.
However, if you are concerned, then please consult the doctor for more information.
But what you have to remember is that the only way to clear up an infection is with an antibiotic, your daughter would be in more danger if you stop giving it to her, than she is from taking it.
If she shows signs of an allergic reaction, like trouble breathing or hives, then you should stop giving it to her and seek medical attention immediately.
Are there any other questions I can help with?
Thank you so much. I will continue giving her the medicine...
It can also cause your child to be deaf like my 1 year old son. No one tells you that before you give your baby antibiotics.

Doctor said my 1 year old daughter has an ear infection already with a raspy cough and fever. She said to give her 4.5 ml of Amoxicillin 3 times a day. I did it the first day until she just stopped eating and refuses to eat and sleep, and when awake acting like a zoned out zombie and of course watery diarrhea. She's become irritable, I just decided to give her 1 dose per day since the on call nurses cant really tell you what to do till monday, that i call a doc. And so i'm here. Any advise will be appreciated. Thank you for your consideration.
