My cat is about 20lbs who has a U.T.I infection and I have a part of a perscription of AMOX TR-K CLV 875-125 MG TABS left over. Via the internet I've found that it is OK to give it to her to cure the infection but I have several conversions I have to do to get the right dose...so far I figured out that the milligrams have converted to 12.5 mgs the cat is 20lls that converts to 12.5 mg per kilo now I'm so confused!!! Can anyone help me please????!!!!!!
I have to take 875mg of amoxicillin twice a day for 10 days for an ear infection. How long does it take one pill to wear off?
T - the average half life of Amoxicillin is 1.5 hours. This means that it will take about 16 hours (give or take) for your body to metabolize a dose. They are having you take it twice per day so that there will be a steady amount of it in your body in order to fight the infection. I hope this helps!

Amoxicillin 875 mg (Half Life Calculator)
Hello, I was prescribed Amoxicillin 875mg (NOT Augmentin) for a sinus infection. I’ve never taken more than 500mg. The pills are scored. Can I cut the pills in half and just take it for more days? I have a problem with weight loss and it makes me have diarrhea on the higher dose.
Melissa, I believe if the pills are scored, then yes, they can be broken in half and taken in separate doses. The only 2 things I would check for on the prescription label are: (1) this isn't an extended release medication (2) it doesn't specifically say that you have to take the entire tablet in one dose. As with antibiotics in general, I always remember the prescription label told me to take the entire course of medication, even after the infection goes away. I imagine that might be the case with you too.
Also, if you're dealing with GI issues from antibiotics, I can relate. This happens to me every time as well. That's because the antibiotics also kill some of the GOOD bacteria in your digestive system. I've found that supplementing a probiotic while taking antibiotics can really help. More specifically, I've usually take a brand called Florastor. It's more expensive than other brands such as Culturelle, but it is a yeast-based probiotic that does not get killed off by antibiotic drugs, so it can make it all the way through your digestive tract. Really helped me when I was on 2 antibiotics at once for an infection on my arm. I hope this helps!
