Basically, amoxicillin mixed with clav-something acid which just enhances the effect of amoxicillan, an antibiotic. Used for chest/skin/ear/throat infections..

Was given for severe swollen, kissing tonsils, with an absys on one, closed airway, swollen lymph nodes in neck, and accompanied by four day fever. two days on it and so far, feeling a bit better.

The other ingredient is Clavulanic Acid, this is a generic for Augmentin.

The Clavulanic Acid helps to prevent the growth of bacteria, while the Amoxicillin fights the infection that is already there.

I have the flu or common cold....I have abottle cephalexin 500mg. The expiration date is 1/14/05. Will they be effective?

Im on the 500mg and boy do they do some damage to you. they make u feel ill, always running to the bath room, and also hard on what you eat. so if u can get something else i wouldnt take the amox-clav

I'm on Amox/Clav 875/125 and I haven't experienced any of the side effects yet. I had a nasty sinus infectin that has lingered for 4 weeks, and now has become a painful chest cold. After only 2 days on these meds my condition is improving and I only experience very mild drowsiness. The drowsiness is even less than if I take a benadryl.

If your doctor prescribes it, then you should take it. No one should self-medicate with prescriptions. If you have concerns about a particular medication, as your doctor and do not just make decisions on your own.

I am taking amox-clav for a sinus infection that has been lingering for a few weeks. To avoid being ill you should eat yogurt with this medication. I have not had any negative side effects from taking this medication.

I'm on amox-clav 875mg for a nasty sinus infection. I have recurrent sinus infections, and this is my first time on the drug. After two pills (that's one day of the medicine) I am already feeling sweet relief. No side effects and I now look at this med with reverence.

I am on it now. Had complaints about constant dizziness for the last four month. After an MRI was prescibed Amox-Clav as MRI revealed an inflamation behind the inner ear. Been on it now for two days, and today I feel terrible...more dizzy after getting a little better prior to taken this drug, hope they are not side effects...need no more dizzyness.

I have one swollen tonsil and one pus pocket on throat. Hurts mostly in the morn. I am stuck in bed wit foot surgery and can't get to doctor. There is amox-clav and amoxicillian in the medicine cabinet. (can't find penicillian) can anyone give me the name of correct meicine to take? I will find it if you are sure that it is for sore throat.. Gargle with warm salt water helps but doesnt cure.
How about gargling with hydrogen peroxide....(just done swallow- I know) Help me please

I got a script last night at the ER for this....cat bite to upper lip - they gave it to me to prevent an infection ... but all I have found states it's for an existing infection.
1 pill down and yeah, hit the bathroom many times but had IV antibiotics last night to.
Has anyone heard of prescribing in a preventative means?

I was prescribed amox-clav 875/125mg
for a sinus infection that was found after an MRI was performed. The MRI results read: There is a retention cyst in the left maxillary sinus and mucosal thickening in the left sphenoid sinus. After taking these meds along with an inhaler (flunisolide). I feel much better. I've had this problem for years and I am blessed to find out that it is only a sinus infection.

I was prescribed Amox-Clav after being bitten by a dog (no infection at the time it was prescribed, but I read that the majority of dog bites become infected). This is my second day on it (fourth pill). I felt fine after the first three, but today I feel nauseated and groggy.

I was prescribed Amox-Clav 875MG for a 10 day treatment of a sinus infection (2nd one in 6 months). Taking this for 4 days now and I'm feeling much better. I did have to stay close to the bathroom on day 3. Next time I'll try eating yogurt with it like another poster mentioned.

I was taking this medicine for a sinus infection and won't ever again. It was way too strong fir me since I am only 105 lbs. I ended up getting c diff. And the dr. Said it was from the medicine. I would suggest anyone who doesn't weigh alot ask for another medication or eat a ton of yogurt, that does help because the c diff. Was so severe I was hospitalized. And all because of being on this medicine.

This is my third day taking this medicine and I feel no relief. I have severe sinus infection primarily affecting my right side by my eye socket, cheek, and jaw. The pain is so horrible. Hope I can feel some relief soon!

Hi everyone I too just was given this antibiotic today for a terrible sinus infection, I have had pain now for near 2 weeks, waking up with headache has not been fun, last 2 days it was all across my eyebrow and now side of nose and cheekbone, I have had it before but not been given this tablet,.He also gave panadiene forte which i most likely wont use,I prefer to use whatevers natural and non addictive where possible, so if that means 1 or 2 more days of pain so be it. Might try snorting salt ocean water, told its fantastic for sinus probably make me vomit though lol, good luck all

Nope not feeling any better. Doctor sent me for xrays. In fact, I'm in pain right now so I better go and pop some more tylenol for relief...(sigh)...

I currently have an acute sinus infection and was prescribed 875 mg of amoxicillin. I have hyperthyroidism and graves disease. Taking this twice a day is hard on my stomach. Could I cut them in half and take a 1/2 pill twice a day and it still be effective on my acute sinus infection?

I think I have hidradenitis suppurativa. I have three different diagnoses by three different doctors, all saying I have a different skin disease. Will "amc 875/125" be useful? My last dr. gave me this prescription. What is it used for? I took penicillin for three months and it did not touch it but slowed it down. Thanks for any help.

Hi, my child was given a prescription of AMOX-CLAV 400-57. She took her first dose around 2:30 since we went mid-day. Can she take another dose around 9 tonight? It's a 2x a day script. She is 7 and weighs 57lbs.

My daughter was prescribed this antibiotic (Amox-clav 875-125 mg) for a sinus infection and was given a 10 day course. She forgot that it causes her to have acid reflux that stays long after the medicine is taken. She has only taken 6 pills. What consequences would be expected if she stops the pills now?

I had cdiff in September I tested neg every time since but still had diarrhea. Yesterday I went to the hospital and was told I gave diverticulitis the doctor prescribed 875 amoxicillin/k clay and flagyl he told me to take probiotics to help with the cdiff. I'm scared of the amox/k Clav anyone else experience this?
