Amox Clav 875-125mg With Systemic Rash

I am 70 years old and was likely infected by 2 people coughing in a 1 1/2 hr bus ride in Cuba (poor recycled air). I got a sore throat within 24 hr then, laryngitis & cough for last 8 days & saw the ER MD in FL. Told them I am allergic to Penicillin and have Asthma. Can I continue the Rx & can I take Claritin for my allergies (mold, pollen, dust etc)? Is topical Aloe gel ok for a rash since the rash is systemic? Or should I go back to the ER for a different Rx? Is ok to go in Sun w/ spf 50? I don't recall if Amox was ever prescribed in my life as I always take Tetracycline or Cipro for other infections.

I didn't find any interactions listed between these medications, but it is always best to double check to be sure.

As to topical aloe, that is usually okay, since you don't absorb much of it, according to FDA reports.

How are you doing, now?

The FDA lists the typical side effects of antibiotics as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, diarrhea, and non-allergic skin rash.
