Amneal Vs Watson Hydrocodone
UpdatedWalgreens filled my script with this amneal brand ip118, but I normally take watson 387 vicodin es for pain from lupus. Is it the same? I'm scared to try it but my pharmacy said it's the same? Is it?

Hello, Nat! How are you?
Yes, both of the tablets you've mentioned contain 7.5mgs of Hydrocodone and 750mgs of Acetaminophen, they are generics for Vicodin, Lortab, Norco and others.
Learn more Lortab details here.
This is a narcotic analgesic, so it does have the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.
You should also be made aware that at some point soon, your dosage will have to be changed. The FDA has requested that the Acetaminophen in all combination prescription products be changed to no more than 325mgs per dose, due to the risks associated with long-term use and possible overdose complications. Some manufacturers have already begun to implement the change and the rest are expected to have it done by January of 2014.
Is there anything else I can help with?
I have found Amneal to be a good brand...At least for me...
Unfortunately, even if you take a medication for chronic illness your body can still become addicted to it. Please note I do not say this out of judgement or being negative, but as a nurse I have found that some folks do not know this and are quite surprised or frightened when withdrawal happens (and not knowing that withdrawal is, symptoms of....) from running out, forgetting to pick up script, decreasing the number of medications they take drastically, etc.
That being said, I do agree that certain brands or manufacturers vary in quality. Watson used to be a good alternative, but they were recently bought out as well.
Best of luck!
Amneal white 7.5. Less side effects, no constipation, no mood swings, anger, between dosage. Thanks! Amneal! Taking for sm. annular tear lumbar disk/ DDD/ lupus remission after chores.going into 4 th month.
Are the compounds different in Amneal and Watson's Norco? I have to increase my dose with Amneal. Is there a difference?
Re: Mari58 (# 6)
Yes the fillers are different. I too fill my prescription with Walgreens and received the same changes in manufacturers. Having just increased to the 10/325 for chronic pain from disc degeneration. I noticed the Watson brand was much stronger, one pill was more than strong enough. Yet I agree with the prior comments of some of the side effects (especially stopping up your system!) Now with the Amneal (2nd dose) nothing but a headache and felt slight effects 2hrs after taking a single dose? I took another dose 6hrs later and thankfully no headache, yet I feel the dose is much weaker. I certainly have no intention of increasing my dose because of the lesser effect. I also called the pharmacist, nothing they can do. I don’t think you’ll have an adverse reaction however just notate those changes you feel. I will monitor for the next few days and if the slight adverse responses remain, look for a different manufacturer.
Re: Patti (# 7)
Same here with my local Walgreens saying they are no longer carrying Watson 10/325 hydrocodone - sad, very sad. Amneal is one of the better alternates in my years. Does anyone have a lead as to which pharmacy chain might carry these now?
Re: Kate (# 8)
Patty I was a different discussion thread I found having the same issues. Finally had guts Sunday to call Walgreens local to ask since I’ve never had amneal and never had issues with any gneeeic. Called corporate and wrote fda. Too many are seining to have issues with amneal in other posts/Threads.
Was able to take my meds to my doctor to have them write a script to fill remainder I turned I. Until next script and Walgreens knew not to give me amneal. They had the other generic and do have them still. From now on, I’ll make sure to check it before leaving the window and won’t accept it if I’m given amneal Personally. But Walgreens still does carry the other generic -
My local one was out when I picked it up and only had this amneal one I’d never seen or taken; thought i was nuts for almost two weeks after years of taking meds sadly...but thankful I found others sharing knowing I wasn’t crazy and to try and do something about it. Made many sick and also didn’t help the pain either even a bit.
Hope that helps, may want to contact your doctor and local Walgreens and ask them if they have another in stock and hopefully your doctor can take your script filled back and write another for the remainder this month. Sadly stinks to ha e to go through all this but at lest it’ll help give the proper affects needed
Fingers crossed for you
Walgreens supplied me with Amneal IP110 and have previously been getting Watson brand Hydrocodone/apap10-325 or Norco 10-325. The Amneals give me a bellyache but I also have a 2 herniated discs complicating the Siatic (msp) nerve. They won't operate. The Amneals give me a belly ache all day long unless the nerve is the major problem but the Watson brand did not give me belly aches.
Re: Patti (# 7)
The change I noticed was increased stomach aches from the same condition you have. I feel the Amneals are weaker. It takes 1.5 Amneals (10-325) to get the stomach pain to diminish. That dips into my overall monthly supply. I'm seeing the doctor again soon and discussing this change.
Re: Cy (# 11)
Sorry to hear, we all feel for you. Was definitely able to get the help and contacted Walgreens local and corporate, fda as well. Contacted my doctor and took those Amneal 110 garbage that they tried to throw on ya and get sick from. He took the remainder and wrote a new script for the remainder 16 Days until my refill script will be able to be filled.
My Walgreens was aware and did have Watson - so I know to NEVER drive away and outta their window without checking because I’ve never had this problem. The last thing we all need is to feel sick or think we are crazy and in worse pain. It’s not you, hundreds - most likely tens of thousands or more that don’t report it, are all getting issues like us. Last we deserve when we need what we need due to issues we’d rather not have.
Hang in there I’d suggest calling your doctor, fda and Walgreens Corp too & local to make sure they have what you need and are aware so if your doc does the same; it’s written how needed and they have what works for you. Pretty much anything but amneal sadly! The more we have contact - hopefully they’ll truly care enough to do something about this.
Hope all goes well and works out; sending lots of love your way!
