I was prescribed amitriptyline for my back pain. I took one 4mg on Tues night at 9pm. I slept most of the 22nd. Maybe awake 3 hours out of that day, but was very confused! I woke up at noon on the 23rd. Is this drug too strong for me or is this normal? Could it be the combination of the two medications amitriptyline and tizanidine? I feel gittery, heart racing, confused and very tired! Please send any information that might help me understand this reaction to these drugs. ## I hope you are aware that this is NOT a pain reliever. This is an antidepressant that has helped some people with certain types of nerve pain, but it does not work like a regular pain reliever or a narcotic. As to sleeping, it is very hard to say, these do cause drowsiness, but not usually that bad. It sounds like y...

I am trying to withdraw from trepiline by taking half a tablet (10mg)per day instead of one tablet. I am getting palpitations could this be from the trepaline. ## Hi, Margo! Sorry about the palpitations, they can be miserable and frightening. And yes, it could be from a too rapid dose reduction of the Trepiline, this can happen with antidepressants and that's why the dosage is usually very slowly reduced to taper off of them, rather than just stopping suddenly. If you were on a 20mg dosage, then the first step for tapering would most likely have been going to 15mgs. Learn more Trepiline details here. Have you consulted your doctor? You need to do as soon as possible, because there is also a chance that the palpitations could be due to something else, so you need to have them checked...

My GP has prescribed one tablet per night for my daughter for bed wetting. Can someone provide me with more information about this drug? ## The active ingredient in this is Amitriptyline, most commonly prescribed for depression, but also used to help treat bed wetting. Some of the most common side effects include: dry mouth, extreme weight gain, nausea and dizziness. ## Thanks for your info. My concern now is that my daugher is only 5 & secondly I am worried about the weight gain and addiction probabilities. Should I be giving her the medication? ## Well, this site is not medical professionals here, so I cannot advise you what you should and should not give your daughter. What I can suggest, though, is that you talk to your doctor about your concerns. ## Thank You for your advice. I...

My daughter has left side paralysis. Doctors diagnosed her with conversion disorder. But I know it's vaccine injury. She cannot sleep and has really bad headaches. He put her on amitryptille for the headache alone he claims. I don't think she would be taking this medication ## My 12 year old daughter took this med for 12 weeks to help with migraines. For some people this is a miracle drug. For her it was awful. Headaches got worse. She experienced severe anxiety and panic. We weaned her off over the course of three weeks. It has been 5 weeks since last dose and she is still not herself.

What is the maximum dose of this drug that is being used for a better nights sleep? My doctor prescribed me 50mg. to be taken 1 hour before I plan on going to sleep. I've been taking as prescribed for 2 weeks and so far have NOT had any improvement. Thanks in advance for any suggestions!! ## Ambien also known as Zolpidem and Silnox works well for me, but you can become dependent on them. I used to take it right before bed and listen to a sleep called sleep easily and I would be sound asleep before the CD had ended. I used to wake up on a hourly basis. I was lucky to ever get 4 hours sleep straight and when I did I felt like super woman. But this medication withe sleep easily which can be downloaded to your phone or I pad I would sleep straight through and didn't have any problem...

I was prescribed trepiline many years ago for back ache. I now find that they do not help any longer. I have tried over a period of 3 months to gradually stop taking these tablets. Then the migraines began. They were coming one after another all day. Fortunately I do not get the severe headache. My GP said that I must go back on them immediately. I do not see why it is necessary to take a tablet that does not help any longer and also made me gain 10kg weight. Please give me your advise. It would be appreciated. ## Tripelene contains Amitriptyline, which is a tricyclic antidepressant that is also used to help with some forms of nerve pain. Since it is an antidepressant, it works on brain chemicals, so experiencing such symptoms if you stop taking it can be normal. Learn more Amitriptyline...

I am looking for a small green sleeping pill that was perscribed by a doctor. i have never come across a green sleeping pill in the years ive been takeing them ## Well, the color doesn't actually mean anything, but that isn't much information to go on to try and help you identify them. How long ago were they prescribed? Where were they prescribed? In the U.S., or somewhere else? ## Amitriptyline could be it, granted it's probably not the only small green sleeping pill out there
