Amitriptyline Reduces Your Libido?

I have been taking Amitrityline 10mg for facial neuralgia for over two years now. I can identify with many of the side effects mentioned on this site, but I can't find anybody suggesting that by taking Amiytriptyline (in no matter what dose) your libido is reduced.

I have most certainly experienced this problem, has anybody else and if so did you find an alternative that does not produce this rather unpleasant side effect?

Yes, that can be a side effect of almost all antidepressant medications, not everyone experiences it, but many do.

There's really no way to say which one might not cause you such a problem, you really just have to try them and see how they affect you. Have you discussed the issue with your prescriber? They may have a better idea of what could help without causing it.

Have you tried any of the anticonvulsants that help with nerve pain, such as Gabapentin?

Its normal side effects may include nausea, dizziness, dry mouth, mood swings and weight changes.
