As to long-term problems, it is actually only meant for the short-term treatment of insomnia, it is not intended to be used for lengthy periods of time. It is usually only prescribed for 2 to 6 weeks.
There are some potential risks, if it is used during pregnancy, so it should only be used if your doctor has specifically recommended it and is monitoring your use of it.
