Ambien (controlled Substance)

My dr proscribed Ambien and it just didn’t work. I would take 3 or 4 pills over the course of a night/day. Now I am out and it takes me 6 hours to fall asleep. My question is this. If I pay cash can I get an Rx for Valium before my 30 days is up? The medication is not working and I’m getting about 2 hours a sleep a night. Two nights I stayed up all night and throughout the next day. Is this lack of sleep bad for my health?

The Zolpidem in Ambien is a sedative hypnotic, though it is related to Benzodiazepines, they are different and are used to treat different conditions.

You should be able to get a Valium prescription, before the 30 days is up, but that policy can vary depending on your insurance plan, and your doctor's policy. Have you tried checking with your doctor?

Why were you taking the Ambien during the day? It is generally only used as a sleep aid, and is supposed to be taken at night, within half an hour of going to bed. Are you on an other medications?

Yes, lack of sleep may cause some health issues, but usually only if it continues for a long period of time.
