Ambien, Insurance Company Problem
UpdatedI was wondering if anyone else out there. Is having a hard time getting Ambien filled from the insurance company. Latest news on Ambien is that you can get only 90 pills per year. A problem for those with insomnia. I have now been with out for 6 days and withdrawal symptoms are kicking in. My refill is still pending. Just and FYI to let you all know with this tier 2 drug that the 90 days is for a year, Good luck to all those living with insomnia=Gayle Parker

Hello Gayle,
There is no FDA limitation and this is strictly based upon your insurance plan, so the better and more costly the insurance plan the better your ability to get the drugs you need. There are a few reasons that the insurance companies are cracking down on ambien pills. The most prevalent is that it costs money and the more they deny you the more money they make. In addition ambien is addicting and the more you take it the more you will need to take it. Lastly the pill works best when taken in intervals and not every day as our bodies quickly adapt to the medication.
All of this combined shows that the more you take ambien the more you will need to do so, which results in higher costs for the insurance company. So not only do they save money by denying you medication but they prevent people from becoming dependent upon it and saves them even more money.
Hopefully this answers your query. Let me know if you have any further questions regarding this subject.
