Ambien 10mgs Vs. Sonata 20mgs

I was prescribed Ambien 10mgs, and it worked for a year. I started waking during the night and couldn't go back to sleep. My Psychologist prescribed me Sonata 10mgs a month ago, but it's not working. She is out of town this month, so I won't see her for a while. Is it ok to take 20mgs?
I also take Lamictal 150mg and Effexor 225mg Clonazepam .5mg as needed

Hello, Blackberry! How are you? I'm sorry that you're unable to sleep.

No, you should not adjust the dosage, without your doctor's approval, especially while taking the Clonazepam, it could be dangerous.

The FDA lists the typical side effects of Sonata as including dizziness, funny taste, headache, dry mouth and back pain.

How often do you take the Clonazepam? That can also help with sleep issues.

Hi Blackbery, I have the same problem with my Ambien as it puts me to sleep for about an hour then I'm up all night. I have not tried Sonata because I'm used to the feeling of Ambien but if my doctor would give me a few to try plus my script for Ambien, I would try it. One thing that I think may help me stay asleep after I take the Ambien happened by accident. I had misplaced my script for Ambien or it may have been stolen, so I called the doctor for another script which he could not fill so he prescribed Trazadone which by itself did not help. But by my own account, when I got my Ambien refilled again, I took 100 mg. of Traz. which he prescribed by itself without the Ambien but took it upon myself to add it to the mix and seemed to help keep me stay asleep. But that is just me. It may not work for others and I would not recommend it unless your doctor sanctions it. I myself found no harm in it and I wake up fresh with no hangover.So, I hope the best for your sleep disorder and hope you can find a solution for it.

Being a med tech here you cannot and you're not supposed to take clonazepam with Ambien they give you irregular heartbeats high blood pressure I ended up in the hospital when taking those two they are not to be taken together
