Alvogen Oxycodone 10-325 Pill (Page 2)

I read this information about the pills on here and people want to make you think your crazy about medicine you have been taking for years. Like I have been taking the WATSON brand Oxycodone 10/325 for years and 1 always worked. It was the only pain med I was taking. I get up in the morning and hurt so bad I would take 1 and with in 15 minutes I felt I could make it through the day. I always had some left over every month. On Jan 2014 I went to get my meds filled and all the sudden no one seems to have the WATSON brand so I got stuck with ACTAVIS brand pill A333 on it for the whole month of Jan I hurt so bad then in Feb I told my Dr when I got my Prescription he told me to try another pharmacy. I did and I got the ALVOGEN Pill Yellow 230 and the same thing. it worked a little better but not like all the years before Jan 2014. We are not DUMB there is a difference. It's not just 1 person who has noticed it..Read on here several people have complained about the medicine not working as well. So for people who believe their medicine is not working..IT"S NOT WORKING!! they try to tell you it's the same to make your mind believe it..Like a PSYCH. effect...

I might be mistaken but I think watson was purchased by actavis or vise versa. I used to get watson oxycodone 10/325 which worked fine. The past two months I've gotten alvogen generic oxy and it does not work at all. And now that walgreens cant fill prescriptions for pain meds I have to drive all over the place just trying to get my script filled.

I am facing the same situation with the Actavis and Alogen not working, but my local pharmacist seems to have picked up these two as their standards, so I have to request that they order Endocet. I find it appalling that the drug manufacturers are allowed a 20% decrease in active ingredients (Let's face it, they won't be going 20% the other direction and give us something that is more effective.) I am on-board with what Mick suggests, that the deviation be listed. Think of how many of us with chronic pain conditions (mine is cervical spinal stenosis and fibromyalgia) suffer needlessly due to this moronic policy! I learned about the Alvogen and Actavis issues last winter when my pain was the worst due to the weather, then had 3 horrible months until I broke down and ordered name-brand Percocet at $100 each 28 days (versus 7 for generics) just to get some pain relief. I believe that in addition to Tracy's petition, someone ought to draft legislatIon (yes, any citizen can do it) and get associations behind it and submit it through Congressional reps or Senators, with the community at large sending it to their Congressional reps. Anyway, I thank Selenapissed off and others who wrote on this and other blogs about the problem. It helped me feel like I was not going nutters.

I have been on the same Oxycodone 10/325 for over 2 years. The only place I can get it filled uses this brand. It has never worked. I have spoke with my doctors. They don't have an answer. I have not brought up the manufacturer but I have been trying to look into it lately bc i feel like I am crazy. I need something different and it is impossible for me to get. I don't know what to do.

Thank you and so very helpful! Shouldn't a generic manufacturer be required to disclose what percentage over or under the name brand? There is a BIG difference between 20% over and 20% under! I agree with you on the preference of generic brands.

Yes, we need 1000s of signature to FDA.

Lately I have been having the same problem with pharmacies changing their generic brands of Oxycodone. I currently take 7.5/325. Activis, Alvogen does not work for me. Endocet, Mallinckrodt and Watson are the only ones I've found effective. I sick of always shopping around for what works and my pain doc thinks I'm nuts. With the FDA allowing the 20% difference, the doc thinks you are getting used to the meds, which in some cases isn't true, its the manufacture of the pill is my opinion. With pharmacies constantly changing their generics because of insurance it's effecting us chronic pain patients with all the different fillers they like to add to them. The 20% tolerance they have shouldn't be so. It should be exact as name brand because that is what you are paying for or were prescribed. Just my 2 cents.

Hello, Selena! How are you? I am very sorry about the problems that you had.

Generics are allowed to differ from the name brand by as much as plus or minus 20% of the active ingredients. The FDA considers this an acceptable therapeutic window and usually, the differences are negligible and don't cause any problems.

However, the fact of relevance here is that each generic is only required to measure against the name brand, not the other generics. So, say the one you were taking that worked well for you for years was slightly higher in the amount of the active ingredients and then the generic you were suddenly switched to was low in them….

I'm sure you can see where I'm going here and can get the gist of were the problems arise.

This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

I wish I had a solution to offer everyone, but I don't. Sometimes, if the difference isn't really significant your body will adjust in about a week, but that doesn't always happen.

Are there any other questions or concerns?
