Alvogen Percocet Problems
(Newest replies first)
Updated
I have been taking Percocet 10/ 325 for a few years now along with flexeril 10 due to crushed and slipped discs in my neck and back. And need both knees replaced. I have had different generic brands of this medication, but since i got these past two times , i thought i had built up a tollerance or something but these do not seem to be working at all. Funny thing my aunt takes them also but gets another brand and they work just fine. So i would have to say these are somehow not working and it sounds like the company needs to get this checked out... Because it seems a lot of people have an issue with this brand not working properly.

Hello Worriedwomn77,
Just out of curiosity do you know if the pills that aren't working happen to be extended releases or perhaps a lower dosage? While I don't think it is those two options sometimes we overlook the obvious.
The FDA requires all of the generics to prove that their drug stays within a 20% margin of error in both directions compared to the brand name. To do this they test how much of the active ingredient gets into your blood stream after a certain amount of time and then compare that to the brand name and in order to sell their generic brand they have to be within that window. While this sounds great in theory, it actually doesn't work out that well in practice for a number of reasons. Primarily for the reason that the FDA can't stay on top of every manufacturer at all times for every single medicine they make.
This can ultimately lead to the the problem a lot of people run into, which is in order to cut costs a lot of companies will actually try to stay in that negative window around -10% to -15% which reduces the overall costs of production. This is an unethical way to conduct business and hurts the end consumer but ultimately due to our FDA laws is not illegal, sucks I know.
If you are consistently feeling like this brand is not working for you then I suggest discussing it with your doctor or pharmacist and see if they will take that brand off your list of possible generics.
I hope this info helps. Hopefully you don't have to take the generic that doesn't work for you much longer.
Use mallinckrodt, or a yellow percocet. All of the percocet are made overseas. I talked this over with docs, and I've been in pain management for over 10 years. Watson sold out, and yes I could take 3 a day of them instead of 4 of these new ones. I always ask the pharmacy. We are all different. One med does not work the same on u or me. I'm not a drug seeker. I use this site to get info. Some of it is good, so shop around and talk to ur pharmacy.
