Alvogen Inc Oxycodon-acetaminophen 7.5 No Pain Relief

I picked up my usual prescription for Percoset and it was obvious when I opened the bottle that it was not the same manufacturer, as my medication has always been oblong white capsules by Mallinckrodt (which I just found out from my pharmacy - CVS - who aren't willing to do anything without speaking with my doctor). Anyway, I have been telling my boyfriend all weekend that these were not working and I have had to take more than prescribed. I have been in constant pain for over 3 years and I know my body well enough and my schedule well enough to know that these do not alleviate my pain unless doubled. I am FURIOUS because I never would have questioned the manufacturer thinking, as a layman in pharmaceuticals, that the ingredients would be the same but their NOT. My weekend has been ruined and now CVS is making me wait until speaking with my doctor, meanwhile I am in pain. Alvogen is not in pain. CVS is not in pain. I am in pain.

Unfortunately, under the Hatch-Waxman Act of 1984, generics are allowed to differ from the name brands, in the amount of the active ingredients, by as much as plus or minus 20%, additionally, they don't have to measure against each other. The FDA considers this an acceptable therapeutic window and, for most people, since the differences are so slight, they never experience a problem.

However, sometimes, when someone has been taking the name brand, or one from a certain manufacturer for a long time, then are suddenly switched to a different one, it can cause problems… and many people have been very unhappy with this one from Alvogen.
