There are a large number of different blood pressure medications to choose from in the realm of prescription drugs. Linked below is Anthem's 2015 drug formulary, representing their list of covered cardiovascular/hyptertension-related medications on page 28:

What I would probably encourage you to do is print out this page and bring it to your doctor to better determine which options are most appropriate based on your condition as well as what your specific plan is willing to cover.
