Alternating Doses Of Gabapentin
UpdatedMy elderly mother is prescribed 800 gabapentin 3x daily. She sometimes takes only one or two doses. What effects will this have?

Hello, MsDeb! How is your mother doing?
It is more effective if taken at regular intervals and taking is on such an irregular schedule could cause various side effects, such as mood swings, headaches and increased pain, as reported by the NIH.
It isn't actually harmful to do that, but it can cause some annoyances, such as those I listed above.
Is she on any other medications?
