Allergic To 3 Meds - What Are My Best Options For Pain Medication?

I'm about to have throat surgery and I'm allergic to Penicillin, Codeine and Percocet. What's the most effective pain med I can be prescribed?

No thank you. I got home yesterday. They prescribed me a low dose of oxcodone. Along w some benadryl. For any itchy side effects. Thank you

Penicillin is not a pain medication, it is an antibiotic. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash, and diarrhea.

As to the pain medication allergies, there are others you can try, such as Morphine, Dilaudid, and Opana, your doctor should be able to help you decide which one is right for you. They carry the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation, and dry mouth.
