My son suffered an allergic reaction to solodyn. He was prescribed for acne. He was on the medication for 1 month with no reaction. Was then put on a different antibotic for one month and then switched back to Solodyn. After three days on the Solodyn, he broke out in a rash. Large bumps most in big clusters with rash. Severe itching.
For any one taking isosorb medication in any dose here is what the problem is ELECTROLYTE IMBALANCE THIS CAUSES A LOT OF YOUR SYSTEM IT DEPLETION ALL YOU VITAMINS EVEN AFTER YOU STOP TAKING IT YOU MUST GO TO YOUR DOCTOR ASAP AS THIS CAN BE DEADLY it has taken me 2 months to find the cause and now I know the treatment my heart doctor lied to me and I knew it please go to your doctor and have a blood test and God bless you all
This solodyn is the worst ever. I was prescribed solodyn for rosacea and instead of helping made things worse. My rosacea is on a little spot but with this medication now I have bumps and itching all over my body. I discontinued using it as of today hoping to feel better soon. I would really like to shove a handful of these pills up the doctor's throat.
My 16 year old boy got a rash while taking solodyn and has a swollen gland below his jaw, he is being off the meds for 6 weeks and no getting better.
Having the same exact effects currently. Woke up at 7:30am to an extremely itchy body. I looked and the mirror and the hives and red rashes were all over my body. Ive been on Solodyn for a week now and never taking this again.
OMG !!!! Me too & this is the exact treatment I gave myself lol! It just started and I only have 2 days left so I'm going to fight through it!
I have been taking Solodyn for about a week now and my earlobes and neck is itching like crazy. I will not be taking this medication any longer. Beside the Solodyn, im taking birth control pills and have never had these type of side effects from birth control pills. After reading these post, I know its the Solodyn. My thoughts and prayers are with the families that lost loved ones over this medication. Thanks for sharing your stories so that we all can learn a little more about this medication. God Bless
I'm experiencing the same thing… I took solodyn for 8 days and have been experiencing itchy skin and redness and whelps for a month now… did your allergies reaction finally go away completely?
I've taken solodyn for acne twice. And both times within 3 weeks I've broken out into hives that have lasted around a month were ever any pressure is applied to my skin I develop a hive and Allegra and Benadryl help
Same thing happened to me a month after I took Solodyn. It was sad because the medicine was actually working. It took me about two weeks to get better completely. I took the steroid and it made worse. I took Zyrtec daily. It helped me A LOT. I just took once a day and after two weeks. It was okay. Now, I still do not break out as much as I used to after stopped taking the Solodyn. Hopefully she feels better.
my 15 year old daughter started taking Solodyn 4 weeks ago, after 3 weeks, she woke up in the middle of the night with head to toe WELTS. her ears were purple and swollen and hard, she had hives everywhere. she was put on steroids, but the next day it was way worse, so she ended up in the ER on IV meds, and follow up steroids. It has been 5 days, and she is still having breakthroughs, so we are back on another round of steroids for 12 days. Shame too, becuase the Solodyn was actually working...
I have been taking solodyn for around two weeks and everything was going well. Then one night I started itching like crazy. I went to bed thinking it could be dry skin or stress. Woke up the next morning and bumps (rashes) started to appear on my neck, ears, arms, elbows, and hands. It intensely burned and itched. I called the dermatologist and as I waited for my appointment (waited four hours.....). My hands and feet started to swell to the point it hurt to walk or grab anything. When the doctor finally saw me they confirmed I was allergic and put me on prednisone, and Benadryl. Day one of taking it and the rashes disappeared. Still have swelling, but it has gone down. Have a migraine, and feeling dizzy. I was told to put solodyn written on a piece of paper in my wallet so if I am ever asked what I am allergic to I can immediately tell people (and immediately told the pharmacy to put it on record).
Hello,
I am so sad to hear your loss. I am going through the same issue. I have taken solodyn for 4 weeks. 65mg. I started getting rashes, hives, and extreme itchness about four days ago. Today is my first day stopped taking it. I think the allergy reaction is getting worse. Do you have any recommendation? Please let me know. I really appreciate your help and I am in desperate need of any kinds of help.
I've only been taking solodyn for 2 weeks to clear up hormonal acne. IBs tarted noticing my ear lobes itching then hair line .. Then everywhere I scratched I would get red welps! I called the dermatologist and she said to stop taking it to see if the rash will go away . It's been 4 days now and it's still not gone ! Help!
My niece is in the ICU having just been diagnosed with DRESS from Solodyn which she took for 6 weeks. She has kidney and liver failure, her blood vessels are leaking fluid into her body and the doctors don't know what to do. If you have any information that could help, please please let me know.
I'm still feeling my side effects after being off for almost 3 weeks my opinion to you is to stop taking anything that will give you those same types of symptoms you don't know how long the other ones are going to last in your system by add something else to it.
I'm still trying to figure out if mine actually gave me lupus type symptoms from Solodyndyn 65
I'm so sorry for your loss.
Niya
Hi, I was on this medication and I'm still suffering. The itching and hives have calm down, but it's everything else. it's giving me some type of Lupus types System. 9/26/14. I was just sitting in the bed reading this and when I came across yours Post up and turned on the lights I feel like everything on my body is hurt I don't feel the same anymore. now that I look back at it all of my symptoms probably started a couple days after started taking a medication from the pain in my fingers to the pain under my toenail bed. the joint pain flashing bright light in one of my eyes I haven't heard anyone say it but I know its from this medication. My opthamologist said everything's fine with my retina of my eye. I'm going to see another eye specialist.
I don't know how else you can contact me or I can contact you.
Yes, or at least it's certainly possible! I don't know how much they get from manufacturers, if anything, but I'll never forget one physician advising me to change to a different medication... He went on to say that changing was based on what the brand SALES PERSON had told him! "Why would she tell me anything wrong?"
I obviously don't see him any more! Can you imagine a physician, with all those years of education, looking to a pretty, new graduate to keep you posted on medications?
I may be having an allergic reaction to Solodyn, too: I am having the worst and longest lasting reaction I've ever had to anything!! My doc immediately said, "stop the Solodyn and Plaquenil" I'm also on another that can apparently do this, too, so I have a feeling this will be going on awhile!
I have been using solodyn for 3 weeks now. I woke up this morning to get ready for work. Well when I was getting dressed I became extremely itchy. I then started observing my body and thought may it was from a mosquito bite. Then I started observing my whole body and noticed welts all over my legs, knees, hands, feet, and ears. My face wasn't welted (thank God) but everywhere else was. So I put calamine lotion on and it didn't help, so immediately thought it was the solodyn because it was the only medicine I'd been taking. So I went to the emergency room. I told the ER doctor that I thought it was the solodyn and he said he didn't think it was the solodyn because it would've been a reaction when I first started taking it. I don't agree with him, I do believe it was the solodyn because I was fine before I started taking it. So they gave me 2 shots, 1 of Benadryl and the other a steroid and diagnosed me with "hives." I stopped taking solodyn and will not take anymore of it regardless of what my dermatologist said. Thanks to every review on here, they all helped and confirmed my belief that indeed it is the solodyn!
What is dress. I'm so sorry for loss too.
