Alcohol While Taking Sulfamethoxazole Tmp? (Top voted first)

I'm taking sulfamethoxazole tmp and phenazopyridine and I'm having a party is it okay to have up to 3 beers?

I haven't read anything about alcohol decreasing the effects of Sulfamethoxazole/Tmp... but according to the University of Maryland Medical Center, using the two together has been known to cause serious side effects including but not limited to: a pounding heartbeat, rapid breathing, flushed skin, and increased perspiration (i.e sweating).

That said, in my opinion it's probably not worth risking these symptoms for 3 beers. However in the event that you do experience such symptoms from ANY amount of alcohol, Umm.edu recommends that you contact your doctor immediately.
