I called about making an appt (in Canfield) and was told they are not accepting new patients. Truth be told I do not know my proper, medical term diagnosis. I got into a car accident (I woke up sitting on the windshield facing the backseat) and now my hips constantly need adjusted, plus nerve damage in my lower back.

Keikee, I have heard of him and that he is very good, did you say to talk about the pain with him or do not talk about the pain, thanks

Can anyone post pain management clinics that will take over from another doctor without wanting to make you go through withdrawals and what not just because they don't like the treatment your on

MM, the GP I'm referring to is Chris Economus in Canfield. As I was telling notshopping, don't go in there talking about nothing other than your pain med issues.

Also on your new thread, Notshp, put the word methadone in the title. May 26th was your first post here so I'm assuming you'd just seen your pm doc. Are you completely out of medication? What got you dismissed from the pm? You accepted & tried to fill another docs script? Flunked a drug panel? It's always helpful for others to understand what will get you dismissed from a pain specialist.

Keikee, I just moved from Canfield to Berlin Lake, who is your recommended doc, I have one but not so sure I really like him or not, thanks

Notshp, I'm trying to keep my posts relatively short because longer tends to not get posted right away. I read thru all your posts & don't see where you've said what your diagnosis is. It might be helpful to know. Regarding your first visit with a new doc;don't ask for pain medicine. Just state on the intake paperwork what type of pain you have & how it's affected your life.

Notshop, I can give you the name of a great GP PCP in Canfield. What I would advise you do is have your medical records with you when you go to your appt. I don't mean pain clinic records. Just the medical records with any lab work, xrays etc. To be continued.

Notshop, you should add your location to the new thread you started. If you didn't that is. You might have to start a new thread cause I don't think editing is allowed here.

Chrissy B, they all judge us, my one doctor told me in theses times we live in, you ARE A DRUG ADDICT till proven otherwise., it is so unfair, there is not a dam thing us pain sufferers can do about it either. I am so beyond frustrated and I don't no what to do. I cannot function with normal daily activities, no doctor gopives a dam

Mm thank you for your response, I have no idea what to do! I'm worried I'll go to a pcp, hate them, try to find another and then get labeled a doctor shopper. My mum went to Veres & I did as well, then she passed in 2005, and I quit going to him in 2006. He was a horrible doctor, the son no better. I somehow lucked into my doctor in late 2007 and haven't really needed a pcp until now. I'm 30 yrs old, so I haven't got much experience when it comes to these types of things. For now I'm rationing what I have and taking a rx similar to zofran. When it's really cold outside and your fingers get so cold they feel hot? That feeling in my back left at base of sacrum/hip, that's rather unpleasant at times along with the tapering but in my mind its worth it to clean the slate, start fresh. Keep me updated, and thank you again! I appreciate your reply

Look I've been trying to find a doctor who is not going to judge me solely on my drug list and actually treat me know for the problems I deal with daily and since moving back to the area it's been hell

Not shopping, I live in the same area you do, you will definitely need a referral to pain doc. There is a dr Torres in Warren, all the other ones in our area are jackasses, especially the guy I see. I will be seeing my pcp soon I will try and get advice and let you no, don't give up I no. It is very frustrating.

Suboxone isn't an option, I've researched it and it's not for me. I'm worried about going to a doctor and being judged poorly, and it wouldn't be in my favor to close my eyes and let my finger pick a name in the phone book. Although that's the point I'm at, it's hard to believe I can't get a recommendation for a PCP, I can't imagine what I'd have to go through if I were seeking another pain mgmt doctor. I started a thread but no replies yet (GP that can short term prescribe opiods), not sure if anything I'm posting is in the right place.

I started a new thread (GP that can short term prescribe narcotics) but haven't gotten any hits on there either. I have looked at the information in regards to suboxone and I refuse to take it. I don't like what I'm reading about it and I don't want to trade one beast for another. I can't afford going to the methadone clinic, and even if I found another pain management doctor I would still need a referral from a PCP, which I don't have. I have no idea how to go about getting one. I can't make appt after appt with different doctors trying to find one that will help me. Will I be treated differently or judged? Will I fit some profile and get treated like a criminal? I don't have the energy to take a shot in the dark and hope I hit something. I don't know a soul that can recommend me anyone, and no one has replied. At this point I'll probably give up, it's harder trying to get the name of a good GP than it is to catch a unicorn. I knew pain mgmt doctors were hard to find but it didn't know this about GP. I'll ask my psychiatrist it there's anything she can do and if not I'll handle this the best I can.

Notshopping, If you'd be open to it, Suboxone might get you feeling better, however it seems that aprox 8 out of 10 people posting on the Suboxone threads are going thru hell trying to get off of it. I've read where some people are on it, it maintains them well, gets them thru work every day & they plan to stay on the 2mg or whatever they're on for the rest of their lives. On the other hand there's those who just want to get off of it and are in withdrawals which seem to go on and on for months. In fact some are still experiencing depression and other things a year or two after stopping. Maybe your insurance can set you up with a new pcp. What town are you in?
