After Finishing Clindamycin Does It Continue Working?

I took Clindamycin 300mg cap 4x/day for 10 days. I still have an abcess on my neck (caused possibly from ingrown hair and my picking?). The lump has gotten much smaller, from large ping-pong to regular grape, but never came to head, and when i originally asked the doc about cleaning it out, she said we will see if this works first. I'm not happy i took such a risk and then read that these type of "cysts" cannot receive the antibiotic because they are closed off. ....etc. I finished pills yesterday. Will it continue to work like other antibiotics I've taken? I'm not sure when I should go back to the doc.

Yes, it can continue to work for a few days. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea.

However, given that it is still there, albeit smaller, you should consult your doctor, again.
