Afraid To Start Long Term Use Of Meloxicam, Or Any Nsaid For Chronic Body Pain And Back Pain. (Top voted first)
UpdatedI have recently quit taking pain meds that I have taken for the past ten years. I was up to 8 Vicoprofen and 4 Tramadol every day. I was so tired of getting up and felling horrible from the toxins in the opoides that I just don't want to do it anymore. However, now I have to deal with how painful it is without the meds and how tired I am. I shower every morning and try to take a 2 mile walk each day, but I am too tired and sore to keep it up. I was hoping a good NSAID would help me, but am so afraid it will have severe physical affects...possibly non-reversible. The side effects on the bottle are nothing compared to the research I have found on the computer. I watched my mother go thru many months of daily dialysis and then eventually chose to quit and she passed away by drowning in her own fluids. Though I want to feel better, I am very afraid to take these meds.......

Hello, Mildred! How are you?
Well from a few things you've said, I'm not sure you quite understand the medical aspect of everything.
What toxins in the opiates are you talking about? What types of symptoms were you experiencing?
And stopping dialysis would not cause you to drown in your own fluids, you'd die from organ failure due to the build up of various substances in the body that can be toxic in large amounts.
I guess it is my own language.......lol!
I am hoping to find something to replace the pain meds in alleviating the pain in my spine and hips without falling back into using something that my body will eventually become dependent on, or I will have severe side effects that will have a long term affect on my body. I don't know what happens when you shut down the dialysis, but it wasn't good. I was just trying to get a message across that I don't want to end up like that........My mom had taken many meds in her life and many of them contributed to her demise.
Mildred, you may want to look into accupuncture, biofeed back and seeing a Pain Psychologist, among other things for alternative non medication pain management.
Please have your liver checked, pancreas, the whole nine yards! Thyroid too! Take it from someone who wishes they would gave done it from the beginning! Good luck and I pray you find strength, healing, and peace!
Uhm I hate to break it to you but as a daughter with her mother on dialysis YES you CAN drown in your own fluid much faster than organ failure!! My mom has been in the hospital a couple times when during inclement weather she had to miss a treatment and she couldn't breathe, so do us all a favor and check your facts.
NSAIDS can screw your body up royally. I am dealing with it now myself looking for alternatives.
