Advantages And Disadvantages Of Taking Contraceptive Pills For 1 Year

Hi, is it okay if I use contraceptive pills for 1 year? I'm currently abroad right now with my husband, and to avoid pregnancy I'm taking the pill. Am I prone to breast and cervical cancer? Thanks
