Adequan For Osteoarthritis
UpdatedThe "authorities" are concerned with the opioid addictions and overdoses yet the FDA has not, to my knowledge, run trials on Adequan, a proven osteoarthritis drug that not only eases pain in dogs and horses but also has been proven to REGENERATE joints.
Any reason why?

The FDA does not run drug trials. They do set the requirements for them, but it is up to the actual manufacturer of any given medication to do the drug trials, and submit the results to the FDA for approval. The requirements are also quite different for human medications, as compared to those use in various species of animals.
In some cases, the cost of doing the trials results in a manufacturer not wanting to pursue further testing to have a medication approved for human use. Regarding this medication, since it is only used in animals, I am not familiar enough with it to know whether or not it might be safe in humans, but at this time, the FDA warnings say it is not for human use.
Sometimes what works in an animal doesn't work for humans, and vice-versa. For instance, we can take Aspirin, but even a low dose could kill a cat. We lost a pup last month, though we tried everything to save him, and we still have several bottles of medication here that can't be given to humans. One of them used to be used in humans, but turned out to be too dangerous, so the FDA rescinded their approval. (Though we did donate what was unopened, in hopes it might help someone else and their fur baby.)
Anyway, a related substance to the active ingredient in this would be Glucosamine, which is available over the counter in the U.S. Have you tried it?
