Adderall Tolerance

Hello I need help in deciding what would be the best course of action for me to take. A year ago I started getting prescribed Adderall 20 mg that I was suppose to take once a day. It was really working for me for a couple of months but after three months after an eight hour day I started to feel myself getting tired. I told my doctor this and he changed it to 15 mg twice a day. This seemed to be working, but I usually do not take two in one day. Most of the time I take one by 10 am and I don't want my body to build up a tolerance or a dependency on them so I usually only take the second one if I am having a long day.
Anywho, I am starting to feel like just the 15 mg in the morning is not doing anything for me. I feel myself kind of just daydreaming or not really there while in class and so I'm not sure if I should tell my doctor to maybe put me back on the 20 mg once a day or if I should start to take the 15 mg twice a day like he has suggested. I feel like going to the 20mg once a day would be a better bet for me since I am not too keen on taking two pills a day, but I am worried that I will build up a tolerance as I did before and then need an even higher dose.

It is normal for your body to build up a tolerance to any medication you take for a long period of time, in any specific dosage, when this happens it will no longer work as well for you, and you usually have to up the dosage, or switch to a different medication. The NIH does warn about this in their patient advisory information.

The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, insomnia, and irritability.

What problem do you have with taking 2 a day? For some people that is necessary to gain better control of any given condition. I have one blood pressure medication I take 3 times a day, and another I take twice a day, because it controls my blood pressure, and heart condition better than if I were taking them once a day.
