Adderall Manufactured By Teva Not Working (Page 69)
UpdatedI have had two refills of Adderall 20 mg that was manufactured by Teva/barr (Teva) and it seems to have much less medication in each pill. Refills by another manufacturer work. This is ridiculous, and where do we report Teva and who can check each pill for amount for medication? I would gladly donate some of my worthless ones to the FDA?
Without a doubt they are not putting something in these teva pills!! They do not work even a tiny bit. There has to be someone that regulates medicine? This is BS!

Re: TimmyTruth1 (# 1353)
Sorry to have to ask this but how in God’s name can anyone feel high from Adderall?
Re: Red1080 (# 1363)
Taking too much and taking it when you do not have ADHD.
Re: Red1080 (# 1363)
Nothing I write could exceed watching the trailer for Netflix's "Take Your Pills". First 45 seconds you'll have your answer.
Re: Red1080 (# 1363)
Just Google it.
Some people can abuse it, chasing elusive euphoria and delusions of invincibility. The rub Is the supposed high ends really fast and it becomes:
- insomnia
- constipation
- irritability
- headaches
- restlessness
and more...
Re: stephen e (# 1345)
Due to the Adderall shortages, the DEA/FDA continually cutting the allocation of amphetamines/allowing generic labs overseas to get away with murder (read about the generic drug shenanigans in a book by Kathleen Eban), it is very possible that your generic Adderall was actually substituted with Effexor/Lexapro/Prozac/associated SNRI/SSRIs. Depending on your biochemistry, particularly the genes that code for the serotonin and norepinephrine receptors and transporters, it is definitely possible to suffer "brain zaps" as a result of even a few exposures to these chemicals, or more likely the aftereffects from them as your brain returns to its homeostasis.
We know as little about what is really in any particular generic drug as we would know about an Adderall tablet purchased by the average pill-pressing drug dealer. Most people just blindly trust those "in charge" so they think that the two sources of drug manufacture are worlds apart. The Supreme Court recently ruled that a generic drug maker was are not responsible for a woman's horrific reaction where she lost a large percentage of her skin due a similar syndrome to SJS (toxic necrotizing of the epidermis or a similar name).
This case of course holds precedent, which further emboldens generic companies to do whatever they want without fear of reprisal. Also, because in many cases the brand name drug is no longer produced (as with Adderall IR) the patient has no ability to go back to the brand name drug that worked so well initially. The black market drug dealer at least fears angry customers either beating them up or simply taking their business to a dealer who sells them product that is legitimate.
People have been filling out FDA complaints for years (since 2011 or so, I believe?) yet the problem gets worse every year. This tracks with the continual numerical decline of amphetamines allocated to drug manufacturers each year, which is public information, even as the population in general continues to rise (ie more and more births each year, more and more kids who will misbehave and given amphetamines whether or not they actually have ADHD; some are just brats) along with the percentage of adults with ADHD/narcolepsy who legitimately can't function well without the correct medication.
The system is broken, whether accidentally or purposely. Occam's razor points to the latter: Old drugs do not bring in money to pharma companies, and patients will not try pricey new drugs with potential long term harms unless these old drugs "mysteriously" stop working, in the case of Adderall. Or unless there is a massive legal and media blitz that "coincidentally" occurs at the very end of a class of drug's lucrative "on patent" time period which blames these drugs as the sole cause of a multifaceted societal problem despite their centuries-long history as an essential anodyne, rendering them unprescribable by doctors.
And, as another "coincidence", a 33 billion a year industry crops up out of legalizing another class of drugs which are now touted as the solution for every ill, mental or physical! If you don't like the "side" (ie intended) effects of these drugs and do not find them helpful for your condition at all, you are told "try another strain" or get your doctor's recommendation or ask the "budtender" because "everyone is helped by cannabis" (beware ANY proclamation that applies to human sensory perception that begins with "everybody"). It's all absolutely ludicrous.
Re: 1984Again (# 1367)
1984Again The Post employs familiar propaganda and misinformation techniques by inserting a handful of truths between a massive dump of speculation and conspiracy theories. Yes the book is excellent. Yes overseas generic manufacturing companies especially in India have received many FDA warnings and to date are not sufficiently penalized or closely monitored. Yes on the SCOTUS case but the decision wasn't AT ALL as reductive as described (there was no "defect" found in the Generic manufacturing, so the onus was on the Brand name formulation Biotech. Example, if a copycat nasal spray or ibuprofen is found flawless in it's manufacturing, the "harm" falls to the originator of the formulation, or prescriber). Occam's Razor doesn't say that the most obvious conclusion is that the biotech is intentionally broken. That's just plain false, unless you're paranoid. Claiming a black market seller is more motivated for quality control is absurd. Personally, I think the ADHD meds market is likely a disaster of under regulation, corruption and there are few generic brands I will even put in my body. Many people experience huge variations in standardization and efficacy. But the explanations given are a hypothesis that needs to be proven. Until then it's just 1st Amendment opinion. Yes the industry seems broken. No, nobody has provided all the evidence sufficient to prove criminal malpractice,. negligence etc. I'd love a Senate committee with an FDA Inspector General to get into it; the DOJ; a state AG; a few class action suits. But nothing except theories.....
Re: Verwon (# 1)
Teva makes the better ones they were the first generic. If they aren't working they may have changed formula slightly due to not being able to get certain additives.
Re: 1984Again (# 1367)
In regards to:
“it is very possible that your generic Adderall was actually substituted with Effexor/Lexapro/Prozac/associated SNRI/SSRIs. “
Prozac should never be substituted for an ADHD medication. Prozac is along the lines of a Zoloft type medication which lowers everything and does not affect the brain but instead the hormone balances. People with ADHD have irregular brain waves, which do not affect emotions. Prozac is something that should be taken off the shelves. Patients see Extreme water and weight retention. In addition to manic depressive mood swings and also slowed down stagnated and zombie like thinking are the results.

Respectfully, ADHD does affect emotions
Re: BlessedLady (# 1371)
Typically people with ADHD have the absence of emotions. People with ADHD have at least one defective gene, the DRD2 gene that makes it difficult for neurons to respond to dopamine
Re: Jess Laurel Trauma Development Specialist (# 1372)
You have no idea wtf you are talking about. You clearly do not have ADHD. I suffer from this disorder and I have tons of emotions that can be all over the place unless I take my meds.
Re: Optimistic (# 1337)
You're blaming Republicans for this?
Re: BlessedLady (# 1371)
Respectfully, ADHD does affect emotions
affect can be poorly demonstrated. countercathexis / object cathexis (in the theory of object relations) must be rewarded. this is not very simple. i have some interesting research on how to improve emotional expression, unfortunately the research is illegal.
ADD is more like an autistic spectrum. there are not many medical choices, behavorial mod is an old goodie.
Re: 1984Again (# 1367)
This is incorrect. I CURRENTLY get the BRAND-NAME ADDERALL, by Teva©?
Re: LaurenMD (# 1369)
Incorrect. Shire was the original mfg.
Re: Davemp88 (# 1376)
Shire was the first pharmaceutical company to make Adderall.
Re: Jess Laurel Trauma Development Specialist (# 1370)
“it is very possible that your generic Adderall was actually substituted with ... [SNRI] ... "
This is is not possible. While effexor can help ADHD it is not on the list of substitutes. They usually substitute adderall for Dextroamphetamine or dextroamphetamine SACCHARATE.
IMHO your best option would be from ACTAVIS or Sandoz.

Re: Red1080 (# 1363)
Sorry to have to ask this but how in God’s name can anyone feel high from Adderall?
People with substance abuse problems will abuse anything you give them. I have witnessed with my own two eyes people trying to abuse Haldol! They would cheek the pills (pretend to take them) and then take 4 doses all at the same time!
Haldol is considered unabusable; getting people to take Haldol is nearly impossible. Some people abuse anything; they have defects of character not ADD. ^[1]
The funny thing is that most psychiatrists will give you as much Haldol as you can possibly handle - the drug abusers feel a need to lie about their needs and consumption. The "high" you speak of is most likely due to "the process of procurement". It is like shoplifting (they call it boosting).
Yes. if it does not apply let it fly.
