Adderall Manufactured By Teva Not Working (Page 44)
UpdatedI have had two refills of Adderall 20 mg that was manufactured by Teva/barr (Teva) and it seems to have much less medication in each pill. Refills by another manufacturer work. This is ridiculous, and where do we report Teva and who can check each pill for amount for medication? I would gladly donate some of my worthless ones to the FDA?
Here is what I personally noted, and it also seemed to be the consensus of many others writing opinions on the net.
Between the years of 2007 - 2012, my favorite generic Adderall IR was BARR
It was my favorite because it seemed to have strong efficacy and balanced and smooth.
I remember, between these years 2007 - 2012 it was not only myself writing accolades; it was praised, it appeared, by most, online.
Sometime after Teva took over for Barr, I noticed a very marked decrease in potency and efficacy, and noted this same criticism from others.
Hilariously, Brand Name Adderall IR (at that time) was produced by TEVA, as well as, Generic Adderall IR.
There is a possible explanation for this.
If you notice the "markings" on Teva's Generic Adderall IR - Let us say the 30mg tablet are:
b 974
I believe that during this time, the Brand Adderall IR, while manufactured by Teva, it was actually produced in labs by BARR.
Teva's Generic IR I think (at that time) was manufactured by a drug company called Duramed Pharmaceuticals, as they are a subsidiary of BARR
Something, I personally believe, has improved in Teva's Generic IR.
Although it is not like it once was, it has, when compared to others, more potency and efficacy. I do not know what role BARR or Duramed may play in Teva's product today, I do know that Barr does not --directly- manufacturer GENERIC IR. (Please correct me if I am wrong, but Barr, although may be a producer, it is no longer a producer)
Today it seems there are a kaleidoscope of generic companies filling petitions with the FDA to manufacturer their generic D-Amphetamine Salt Combo IR
WHAT MOST DO NOT KNOW ABOUT HOW GENERIC COMPANIES "TEST"
_______________________________________________________________
1. There is not a FDA representative required to "directly" oversee the generic company's test (ie they are not --there-- in the lab) so to speak
And while the FDA mandates certain standards that generics (applying for approval of their product) must undertake, they do not act as a "babysitter" so to speak
What I am getting it is this:
Like cheating on a algebra test, the teacher (here the FDA) may not catch you... But obviously, you must complete the test, and, turn in your test.
Another concern - And this effects the "EXTERNAL VALIDITY" of a firm's tests
A. They may have a very small sample size >25
B. The samples may not be "vetted" with absolute accuracy:
1. Some "samples" may, at the time of the test, be taking other medication, or, have other psychiatric / neurological conditions
**C. There may be, in the total sample size, more of a certain age group, demographics, or races tested
These may seem irrelevant, but they could very well produce data that has very poor "External Validity"
Here is a interesting note: FDA WAIVERS
If the generic company can prove, through testing established by, analyzed by, and conducted by the company, that -- let us say their 30mg tablet is completely bioequivalent to the Brand Name, in terms of the time the drug is detected in the blood, the highest level detected (with the time recorded) and, the time the drug leaves the body, are, in FDA standards "Bioequivalent" to the Brand Name, the generic company can request a "WAIVER" in terms of testing their lower strength tablets, arguing that because, their highest MG (let's say 30mg tablet) was shown as "bioequivalent" - then - if each method is (or were) implemented by the generic company, it would, obviously as well be Bioequivalent.
Waivers are profoundly concerning, and consist of fallacious research testing standards.
Now: Would it be worth it for the generic company to use substandard testing 'methods....well, if that were to save them, a literal fortune, who knows?
The real danger, however, is not necessarily when the product they tested, and given to FDA to demonstrate acceptable equality to the Brand...
Conversely, it is when the "ACTUAL FORMULA" is on conveyor belts, and the firm must actually "make" what they "tested"
Now...is it worth it at --this stage-- for a generic company to, "cheat" let us say...
Not really
Because if caught, they could face a absolute fortune in fines and penalties, but their entire pipeline of drug could face immediate "search and seizure" by the FDA
But...the FDA is, in my opinion, grossly understaffed, to conduct surprise evaluations of the firms warehouse and manufacturing process, but most of these are ----actually--- in Third World Countries
There is a very good reason firms have most of the drug made there.
Just my thoughts...

Pffft.... Stop projecting your addiction and habitual behaviors onto others.
Get Sandoz brand peach color.
Lolo (# 859) --
I take Sandoz brand 30mg IR's. with imprint E404 and they have CHANGED! The script in June was the best and since then has went down hill. This past month I have turned into a lethargic zombie with stomach issues and weight gain. I read that Sandoz has been bought out.

I have been taking Adderall for about 4 years now and have tried every generic there is I think and milligrams. I am on 30 mg and I have had nothing but problems. They don’t work! I have gone off them for a few weeks and back on and no difference. I had the best results with generic made by Carepharm 20mg. Never could find any store that carried that maker again. All others are worthless. Very sad we have no choices on our manufactures or what country our medications come from. I’m tired of wasting money on garbage and making a foreign country prosper at the cost of my health.
Sad our govt could care less too.
Re: QueenGG (# 865)
I’ve had the same experience; different side effects that have even landed me in the hospital. Now there is a “nationwide shortage” according to my local pharmacy. Is there something else that works without the horrid side effects?
Re: PhillyChk (# 866)
Same here. On back order per my pharmacy.
I received Sun instead (30 mg yellow with "mg 447" on tablet(now Northstar) but same formula from Sun Pharma (but made in States now....Google it).
Speedy. Like old Teva. Took a week for my body to adjust but as good as anything in Market today..
Good luck (and - as always- my opinion only).

Anyone in Massachusetts know of any doctors that will prescribe oxycodone 30 mg tablets? I have a history of taking them and now I'm on suboxone. It does not work for pain, only withdrawals from them. I'm tired of it. I want my back pain to go away. Please help.
Re: renee73 (# 864)
Hello, I read your post about the new Sandoz 30mg. Sandoz was known to be a good generic, then there was a halt in production, in late 2018, Costco didn’t have them for a long while, they do now but I have been feeling exactly how you mentioned..
Any advice?

Hello, I read your post about the new Sandoz 30mg. Sandoz was known to be a good generic, then there was a halt in production, in mid 2018, Costco didn’t have them for a long while, they do now but I have been feeling exactly how you mentioned, literally, exactly as you mentioned..
Any advice?
Re: Hudhack (# 871)
They have changed. If you look at the bottle it says Epic Pharma makes them now. Weak.
Now, Aurobindo owns Sandoz generic (finalize deal later in 2019.)
Sandoz sold 300 generics and their dermatology business so who knows what you'll get!
Good luck
Re: Hudhack (# 871)
I wish I had a helpful answer. Honestly I am ready to just give up. I went unmedicated for my ADD my whole life and at 43 I decided I wanted to go back to college and succeed. I am a very all natural girl and do not take meds...maybe an advil if I absolutely have to. When I first started taking Adderall it was really helpful and had other benefits besides focus and attentiveness. I was happy again and had less PMS!!! (all benefits now gone) Now I feel I am just poisoning my body with dirty generics and take long breaks of the med to let my liver recover. I will probably just wean off and get on with my life. Good luck.
Re: Hamster (# 872)
Thanks... Probably switch Back to TEVA.
Hamster (# 868) --
I have heard amazing things about Epic being "just like" Corepharma's by the way! :)
Re: allie (# 875)
Hmm...its strange that they are made by Epic
I think this is "new" as old bottle said it was manufactured by Sandoz (hence everyone saying Sandoz has changed and is very weak and ineffective..)
If Epic brand labels for Core, it's the old Core formula.....all this does not make sense from a manufacturing standpoint: They make Epic brand, Sandoz brand and the old Core brand?
Anyway, they are far from the old Core. Sometimes I'll take my 30mg dose and forget I took it because there is no discernible effectness.
These generic companies seem to be all interconnected in some way....bottom line it's all about profits.
Good luck.
Re: Hamster (# 876)
Oh, forgot. Sandoz is now owned by Aurobindo...
Who knows what gets put out to market when that deal closes.
Try the Epic. It may just be the old formula.
I have felt the same way for months! However, I didn’t realize it until I refilled my script from another manufacturer! Holly crap, it was actually making me feel horrible!
Re: Lil lamb (# 878)
Thanks for the response. Any chance you remember the manufactures... i.e. worked didn’t work?.. my issue is with the new Sandoz tablets, also sucks because I get 3 months supply at a time..so I am stuck with this crap for another 2 months..
Re: Hudhack (# 879)
Has anyone been dispensed the generic brand of IR by: Epic Pharmaceuticals
Supposedly, their formula is correct commensurate with that of Corepharma, when they were still manufactured.
Thanks
