Adderall Manufactured By Teva Not Working (Page 28)
(Newest replies first)

Updated

I have had two refills of Adderall 20 mg that was manufactured by Teva/barr (Teva) and it seems to have much less medication in each pill. Refills by another manufacturer work. This is ridiculous, and where do we report Teva and who can check each pill for amount for medication? I would gladly donate some of my worthless ones to the FDA?

When anyone uses EVERYONE, ALWAYS, NEVER AND THEY ARE 100% POSITIVE (without actually having DNA in hand) leaves room for much questioning on their thinking. Maybe its time to hand out the Mirror. Owning our own actions, taking responsibility for our own health. Isn't this what the 2018 year is all about? Ask questions, get proactive. Don't be shy with our Doctors and/or pharmacist. Most of us haven't gone to medical school, nor ever will. What we learn about meds is what little to no info given. Then we get advertisements, news clippings that drugs are tampered with or that drugs have been played with in their dosage. You're not God. Don't talk about issues you clearly think you may be the judge and jury. Move on to another site or sit back and hear what many are talking about. You may be surprised and learn a thing or 2. Peace & Soul.

By the intensity of your post you are clearly an addict seeking a "high" from your prescription medication. Before you get your liberal mind in a twist, remember that America is a Christian nation. It always has been.

AMEN to that !!!

I must admit, in my 65 year old naivety I hadn't thought about the likelihood that these "accusers" are very likely trolls paid by an historically unethical industry.

BobH (# 784) --

Yes, exactly. Perhaps they also tell the doctor how everyone else are pill-popping junkies, but they are a Bible thumping paragon of morality!

Ever notice how the finger-pointers always have a ton of skeletons lurking in their closets? Like the fundamentalist preachers picketing the funerals of AIDS victims, only to be arrested for soliciting young boys on the internet?

This is a really stupid issue for the hypocrites to be jumping on. First of all, we are all behind computers, there is no need for debating who is a "junkie" and who is a narcoleptic pro-bono attorney who helps children/elderly who were abused. Second of all--and this will be news to those who engage in black-or-white thinking--it is perfectly possible for someone to be both. But thirdly, statement two is irrelevant at best in a discussion of prescribed drugs, and can only be used as an ad hominem attack to discredit those alarmed at the lack of efficacy of a particular generic.

Now, who would benefit from sidetracking a discussion by consumers who want exactly what they are paying for when they go to the pharmacy? Those who are in the business of quashing any complaints about the quality of generics in order to maintain profit margins. The best tool to get us all to shut up is by using the bogeyman of "drug addict!" It works on chronic pain patients, who now suffer drastically lowered quality of life. Everyone becomes too busy separating the "evil drug abusers" from the "valid" pain/ADHD/narcolepsy patients to see the scam perpetuated by those profiting, which is exactly what the profiteers of poor generics want: Sow discord and paranoia, divide and conquer, silence valid complaints by stating that anyone unsatisfied with their meds "just wants to get high", which is damnable in Puritan America.

In a climate where doctors are (justifiably) terrified to prescribe or continue prescribing mild pain-relieving Schedule 2's even for in agony terminal cancer patients, I highly doubt doctors are literally handing out a much less needed Schedule 2 like Adderall for a condition like ADHD which doesn't even cause physical pain, much less impending death. Anyone who has a doctor's prescription for stimulants in this climate is less of a junkie at this point than the average person without one.

But you know what? Even if every other person on this board was "just drug seeking", I DON'T CARE as I am not their doctor. It doesn't negate the premise that medications should contain exactly what they are supposed to and not what they're not. Nor does it negate the fact that all people deserve help for their afflictions, including those that are based in the brain. I do not live in anyone else's body, nor do they live in mine, and none of us has the right to presume what is going on in there.

Those who haven't outgrown high school, go to one of the many "where can I find a doctor in Buttland Texas who will give me Adderall without an ADHD diagnosis?" on here and call them drug-seekers, because they are. As long as you're here attacking those with a diagnosis and prescription trying to get to the bottom of a long-standing problem in a notoriously corrupt and secretive billion-dollar industry, I will simply assume that you are part of it in some way. I will not dignify your thought-terminating juvenile mud-slinging with a response.

If those of us prescribed Adderall are "drug seekers" when we aim to find a generic on par with actual brand name Adderall, are our doctors "drug pushers" when they give us prescription for a different drug that's brand name/specify a generic, while agreeing with us that most recent generics are sub-par for reasons beyond our own bodies and minds? What about doctors who themselves have ADHD or a chronic pain condition who also believe something odd is going on with Schedule 2 medications? What about all the other threads, here and on other boards, where patients bemoan the state of generics that aren't Schedule 2 meds, or even scheduled meds at all! Are they junkies too?

If you are not "in the business" and are just a scared pawn who doesn't want to imagine that the highers-up might not be acting in good faith and therefore tries to discredit and silence anyone who doesn't swallow the party line, you need to brush up on America's history of drug prohibition and demonization of the "junkie" as a social tool against racialized people deemed "undesirable", the history of prohibition, the development of for-profit prisons, and the recent "opioid crisis" as a means of promoting super expensive non-opioid drugs for chronic illnesses. Non-contextual black-and-white thinking leads to an ignorant populace who, in their mindless acceptance of the societal scripts of the day, often gleefully act against their own interests.

I’ve only been taking adderall ir generic Teva consistently for one year. 20 mgs TEVA/BARR 2x daily or broken up to 10mgs as needed worked perfectly. In June/July picked up rx took as prescribed and nothing. This went on for 2 weeks the bottle now just said TEVA.
Here I am now from 40 mgs now barely functioning on 60-90mgs of TEVA 30 mg ir tablets.
I’ve also GAINED 15 pounds since being put on the 30mg ir.
I’m in Colorado, this was happening at Walgreens but I’m done with Teva I can not continue the weight gain and there is absolutely no way that one week my dosage of 40-50mgs worked to having to switch to the 30mg ir and 90 mgs barely being effective. I reported to FDA and actually got a call from a Indian gentleman working for Teva but nothing will be done.

I switched back to Ritalin. I’m taking Caraco by Sun Pharma 20mg IR. I get this brand from cvs. It is helping me focus tremendously, with no bad side effects to report.

It is really bad. My pharmacy switched to the manufacturer TEVA about 6 months ago. I take 20 mg 3x a day. I noticed a decline in my everyday life. I switched to 30mg 2x a day, and still have a hard time getting through my days. All of my ADHD signs are back and have been since my pharmacy switch to TEVA. I did submit a formal complaint through TEVA's and received a call back. They asked a few questions and opened a case. I suggest everyone who is experiencing this issue reach out to TEVA to make sure them know. I definitely think there needs to be a recall.

Re: Hamster (# 826) Expand Referenced Message

Well, went with Teva this month as usual pharmacy was out of Aurobindo.

I had read the Teva adderall 30 mg had "improved" in recent posts.

Hmm....just took first dose and noticed no real change in previous scripts.

Perhaps a tad cleaner than Aurobindo, no real dry mouth but increased "#1 bathroom runs" (harder on bladder?), a bit wired, lasts only a few hours and no discernible mood increase. With that said, motivation up (took 1 week Holiday...soo....) and concentration better...

So, bottom line: Its a toss up. They all suck compared to a few years ago....but Teva seems a wee bit more potent than that India company ( who just bought Sandoz).

Good luck....my opinion ONLY.

I take 20 mg 3x a day. Teva is the manufacture and it was filled at Walgreens 11/2018. Not working, just changed to 20 mg about 4 months ago.

Um, no- they are not putting caffeine in Adderall.

Re: Tom (# 834) Expand Referenced Message

Yes, I suspect they put caffeine in these pills. They've been tweaking formulations for over several years now (ever since the oxycontin abuse became so widespread). This was all done in order to make controlled drugs less prone to abuse. It started with mfrs. making the tamper-proof (so they said) oxycontin, but then they moved into actually modifying the ingredients in various scheduled drugs -- most of them, including amphetamines, pain medications, etc. They'd add new fillers, take away others, add gels and other things meant to counteract constipation (for opiates, that is), and the list goes on. At one point they added something to the buprenorphine meds. to prevent people from taking too many; if a person did over indulge in the bup they would experience terrible stomach discomfort and other maladies.

In the case of generic adderall IR they have, without question, changed the way it is made. The negative publicity of college students using it recreationally and/or to enhance study habits more than likely helped the cause of those seeking to make the drug safer.

I don't know how they're progressing in their quest to bring about the perfect, abuse-proof drugs, but I know this much: The consumer is getting short shrift in all of this. We pay the same prices - or more, in some cases - and we get less active ingredient as well as whatever fillers the mfr. decides to throw in to make the drug more benign and "abuse deterrent."

What the hell is in these pills? Is there any amphetamine at all?????

When I take a teva 20mg pill now, I get loads of sweating, acid reflux and headaches with NO focus or motivation. Also I'm hungry all the time and I've gained like 20 pounds in the last 6-7 months because of this new teva orange pill

Sometimes I think there's no amphetamine at all in this pill! I'm getting all the bad side effects with no benefit at all! It feels like I'm taking lots of caffeine with this thing.

From My own experience absolutely. First off its less expensive. 2 pills not 3 has been less expensive. Then you split. The issue may be the Availability of the 30smg. From my experience. I have had dr. Re write scripts because the lack of availability of a mg. This happens at times. Just ask. Worse thing they can say is no.

Re: XparraX (# 824) Expand Referenced Message

Hello, I have tried both, but you may need tweaking. Talk with your Dr. Only from my own experience. I take a much higher dose, but i break it up during the day. I can tell when i start that fog. There is no such thing as a one size fits all. No matter how you slice it we all are different. Talk with your Dr. Keep a journal of how it was when you first started and now then daily. Be real and honest. Bottom line is if you ask 10 people the question you are going to get 10 different answers. Then some that judge. You need to do what's best for you on this. Good luck, peace & soul.

Re: Stuart522 (# 827) Expand Referenced Message

This is very true. I'm on a generic 20mg white stop sign shaped amp salts now for 3 months. At first it was horrible, now after 3 months i have played with it and have it down working the best generic yet. Seriously. I also have many left over on a 30 day supply. In South Carolina you can only get 30 in 30 days. There are no day laps or extra days like in ohio where i could get my script on the 27th or 28th day, depending on the pharmacy. I was always short even with the extra days. Generics are a guessing game. I'm about to get my 4th month's fill here in SC and hope i get this stop sign. It's like a mental war with myself monthly.
