Adderall Manufactured By Teva Not Working (Page 20)
UpdatedI have had two refills of Adderall 20 mg that was manufactured by Teva/barr (Teva) and it seems to have much less medication in each pill. Refills by another manufacturer work. This is ridiculous, and where do we report Teva and who can check each pill for amount for medication? I would gladly donate some of my worthless ones to the FDA?
James-
I read they don't test the same way as they used to because it's seen as "unethical."
I just can't believe how different one brand is from the next. I used to believe generics were no different, however after my recent experiences I'm 100% sure that there ARE SIGNIFICANT DIFFERENCES BETWEEN BRANDS. It's not a placebo effect for all you non-believers.
Very frustrating. Will be switching to vyvanse
SOMEONE NEEDS TO ALERT 60 MINUTES OR ONE OF THE INVESTIGATIVE NEWS TEAMS TO THIS BOARD. THEY HAVE MORE POWER TO PUBLICIZING THIS COMPANIES DECEPTIONS.The media needs to reed all of these peoples complaints. They will higher a private company and expose them
Sadly.I could get this medicine for $10.00 for unbrand, but thankfully my insurance co allows me to pay the higher tier rate $50 to get the brand name. Why pay $10 for medication that does nothing to help me.
Re: James (# 372)
I absolutely love it. It's the only generic I've ever taken.
I'm both called Teva USA generics, and I also filled out a complaint on the FDA website.
I encourage anyone who has taken this generic for Adderall do the same!
Re: James (# 384)
Does anyone know who manufactures brand name Adderall IR?
In the past, ironically, it was actually manufactured by Teva
I do not think they still producing it
Could anyone provide commentary regarding this?
Re: James (# 372)
Global/Impax makes/made the generic Adderall known by the name Corepharma.
Re: Edward (# 386)
Corepharma is now discontinued. And my question was who manufacturers Brand Name IR?
Re: James (# 387)
Is Teva who makes IR, I tried it a couple of months ago and posted here. Good thing I only got a script for a trial (7 days) because instead of helping me they actually made things 3 times worse.
Re: James (# 385)
Teva is still producing the Adderall 20mg IR as of 2 weeks ago when I picked up my prescription.
Re: Nick (# 381)
Which one have you switched to ?which would u reccomend I was on corpharma and thought they were the best but now there being discontinued and have to refill in the next few days ..
Re: Angela (# 390)
I swichted from Aurobindo 20mg IR to Teva 20mg two weeks ago.
Because of all the changes in manufacturers and the inconsistencies in each brand, I would recommend switching to Vyvanse. That's what I'm doing. I don't want to deal with trying to find the best brand every month. Whether it be generic or brand name Teva, they're both not nearly the same as Adderall used to be.
I've taken Vyvanse before via prescription and had excellent results.
Re: Nick (# 391)
I've never had vyvsain so could you tell me what's the difference between that and adderall ? Also which vyvsain brand do u reccomend taking ? Thanks for your time and help :)
Re: Angela (# 390)
Have you a substitute for Corepharma yet? I'm asking my pharmacist to reorder from a different manufacturer as my 20mg from Teva are terrible. Feels like a placebo. Please let me know!
Re: James (# 387)
Teva is the least effective generic I've tried by far. Sandoz has gotten weaker in the last year. I was having good experiences with Corepharma until they decided to stop manufacturing Adderall. For my most recent refill I was only able to find Aurobindo in my area. After reading all the horror stories about Aurobindo I was prepared for an entire month of poor productivity and diminished mental clarity. However I was pleasantly surprised! Aurobindo's adderall seems just as effective as Corepharma to me. It can feel a little harsh at times, but after an hour in to the dose all the mild side effects fade and I'm left with all the benefits of this medication.
I guess everyone's body reacts differently to the fillers in these pills. I got lucky this time, and I'll report back if Aurobindo loses efficacy or if side effects become more prevalent.
Re: Angela (# 392)
Vyvanse, like adderall, is a stimulant used to treat ADHD. It's effects are slower to come up, but last longer as it "works" through the digestive system. It's less jittery than adderall, and overall smoother in my opinion. Do your own research to hear other peoples experiences. It was very effective for me.
Regarding the brands of it, I believe there is only the name brand "Vyvanse"
Re: Nick (# 395)
Hi,
I tried Vyvanse and did not like it as it lacked the motivation aspect of Adderall. In addition, it lasted maybe 5 or 6 hours and I found myself hyper focusing, quick tempered and did not like the fact you could not "regulate" the dosage. With that said, we are all different so use my account only as an opinion as others like the alternative and it is very clean.
Here are the differences, per document I pulled up several months ago:
Any answer to the question 'what's the difference between Adderall and Vyvanse?' must include a discussion about dextroamphetamine and levoamphetamine.
That's because Adderall contains both d-amp (dextroamphetamine) and l-amp(levoamphetamine). Vyvanse is just metabolized to d-amp - it lacks the l-amp component.
The d or l before the amphetamine signifies the handedness of the molecule. It turns out that (chiral) molecules come in pairs - there are left and right mirror images - just like you have left and right hands.
Because they're just mirror images, you'd think that d-amphetamine would have the same biological effects as l-amphetamine. But this is not the case.
What’s the difference between dextroamphetamine and levoamphetamine? Chemically, these two molecules are mirror images (stereoisomers) of each other and have similar but not identical effects in the brain. Some differences include:
•dextroamphetamine is three to fivefold more potent than levoamphetamine
•dextroamphetamine has greater effects on dopamine than noradrenaline, whereas levoamphetamine affects norepinpehrine slightly more strongly than dopamine
•Both isomers effectively treat ADHD
•Levoamphetamine more specifically improves sustained attention than dextroamphetamine1, which may benefit some subtypes of ADHD
•The 3:1 mixture of dextroamphetamine and levoamphetamine in Adderall was found to have a synergistic effect by enhancing and prolonging the efflux of dopamine produced primarily by dextroamphetamine
Re: Hamster (# 396)
I used to switch back and forth between adderall and vyvanse, every two months or so in college. The hyper focusing part can happen, it helped me because I'd spend hours at a time studying in the library.
I don't find adderall has the same energizing/motivating effect as the old formula, plus the differences between generics lacks the consistency month to month that is crucial to me functioning. Vyvanse on the other hand is just vyvanse, no changes as far as I'm concerned.
Whatever helps you the most is the one that's better. I'm not a doctor but I'd recommend trying both for a few weeks to see what works the best
Re: Erin (# 393)
Before you give up on Teva entirely, instead of taking your normal 20mg dose each day...try taking 15mg or
25mg instead of the 20mg for a few days. My experience is that with this slightest of adjustments...you can and will get to that place where your generic Adderall "works".
Re: James (# 387)
Honestly, I don't know. Shire would be my best guess. I've never taken Brand so...my apologies for not being more helpful.
Re: Hamster (# 396)
Very useful information. I read this as Brand has a 3:1 mixture of D-Amp to
L-Amp while the generics have a 2:2 mixture, yes?
