Adderall Manufactured By Teva Not Working (Page 18)

Updated

I have had two refills of Adderall 20 mg that was manufactured by Teva/barr (Teva) and it seems to have much less medication in each pill. Refills by another manufacturer work. This is ridiculous, and where do we report Teva and who can check each pill for amount for medication? I would gladly donate some of my worthless ones to the FDA?

Hampster, you said, "Has Teva changed their formula? The 30 mg pills are flater, bigger and they seem much smoother than Core and markedly more potent? Crazy how these generic meds are all over the place!"

I have several questions for you (important because I'm going to be in the US only 13 days and it is impossible to get amphetamines in the country I live in [I've been trying to solve this for 11 years]).

1. Which Teva are you referring to? The only flat ones I find in the literature are the "Adderall brand" (or dp), licensed from Shire. Are you talking about these?

2. You say they are "smooth" and "potent." What I want to know is, are they effective for ADHD? Do they help with organization, focus, motivation -- do they help someone with ADHD?

If you get this, I'd greatly appreciate it if you could respond asap. Thank you very much.

Trey, can you tell me where you got the information that the corepharma generic adderall will stop being manufactured may 1, 2017? I can't confirm this information anywhere.

Thank you

As I noted in another post, I'm coming to the US next week for two weeks. I haven't had my ADHD medication for 11 years, as amphetamine production and sale are prohibited in the country I live in. I have an opportunity to get at least a couple months of medication (if my doctor will prescribe it and if I spread it out over time -- I'm older now and not working, I don't need it twice a day, 7 days a week anymore).

This will be my last opportunity for at least a year or two.

I've read hundreds of comments here. From these, I've determined:
1. Corepharma currently makes an effective generic Adderall.
2. All other current manufacturers, including Teva and Barr, are suspect FOR GENERICS.
3. The Teva "brand" Adderall, stamped "dp," has mixed comments in the forums. I found only one individual who said that it did not work at all, but he did not describe in detail the pill that he took. Most other comments at least say that it works, if not quite as well as the original Shire version.

I'm on a limited budget. I'd like to get the corepharma if I can find it, but I'll pay the price of the Teva licensed Adderall (looks like about 7 times the price), if it is effective.

Please:

1. Can people comment on their experiences IN THE LAST 2 OR 3 MONTHS with these medications, as they apply to helping with ADHD symptoms? Please indicate the timeframe in your responses. I ask this because I have seen in these comments that things often change with these medications nearly from month to month.

2. I'm travelling to central/eastern Massachusetts. If anyone knows which pharmacies are selling the corepharma generic (cor 136) in that area, it could save me some very valuable time.

Thank you in advance to those of you who can help me out with any of this.

And thank you to the hundreds of you that have posted here these last few years to warn all of us and bring these issues to light.

(I had a problem with generic Adderall not working 11 years ago. It didn't work at all. When I started this investigation a couple weeks ago, I thought, "They've had 11 years to solve this. Shouldn't be a problem now. I never imagined that the problem would have grown worse instead of disappearing.)

The Teva is their generic 30mg orange "Football." The last script I received looked larger and a bit flatter than the "Old" pills. Yes, I initially gave these a good review but that was probably due to Adderall "Holiday" I took. Subsequent dosing lost punch throughout month but I became more focused as opposed to focused, driven and mood lift. Additionally the sweet taste if these things is awful. Fast forward to this week and told my Doc I liked the Corepharma for drive but they are not clean..too many side effects indicating my body was not enjoying them. Teva had less side effects( but a wicked loss of appetite). I decided that the Adderall OR generics are too inconsistent and asked to go with the Adderall XR generic made by Shire (The inventer) and marketed by Sandoz. I figured if these were truley the exact same capsule as Shire but at a generic price this would be no brainer. Well, after 4 days I must say they have zero negative side effects. Appetite surpression, of course but none of that numbness crap with the Adderall IT generics. They are very slow to ramp up but notice a slight down feeling when wearing off. They do not last 12 hours..maybe 6. Doc gave afternoon dose too. My concentration is good and mood better but your first reaction may be these things are not working and you need more. Not the case. They have such a clean delivery sometimes you forgot your on them . I will reevaluate next month if I continue with these..hope this helps.

Hi Grendel,

I read your post from June 9th about the doctor prescribing you what you refer to as "brand name Adderall." I'm sorry to bother you about this, but I'm coming to the states, I have no insurance, I have to pay cash, and I have one shot to get this right. Where I live, it's illegal to make and sell amphetamine.

Can you describe, in detail, the pill that did NOT work for you?
Color?
Shape?
All letters, numbers, and markings?
Number of milligrams?

I really don't want to pay more than $700 for something that won't help me, and just as bad, to not have any solution for at least another year.

Thank you for any info you can provide.

You can request your meds to come from a specific manufacturer. That's what I have to do now. WALGREENS is great about ordering what you want and from where. You just have to give them a couple days notice.

I totally agree, I just had my Dr write for name brand, got the teva orange 30mg and they are worse than the generic brand. Absolutely no help for my ADHD.

My experience this month with the "new" Teva 30 mg IR has been bittersweet. The tablets are larger and flatter and I so wanted them to be better and different than the same Teva product available nine months ago. The first 10 days of this month, this new Teva was exceptional. It gave me great energy, great focus, the ambition to take on difficult tasks and complete them quickly and effectively. The only noticeable side effects were dry mouth and some jaw clinching...both of which I would gladly accept from my generic Adderall in exchange for the energy, then the clearness, then the quiet confidence Adderall gives me when it's working best to do literally anything I decide to do. And do it well. And also do it in concert with other difficult tasks, completing all of them and being pleased with the results.

After 28 days now on this new larger, flatter Teva 30mg IR... based solely on my experience this past month...I would not recommend it to anyone as a generic Adderall option. Not this version that Teva is now bringing to market. Aurobindo is better. Sandoz, though weaker for me and hard to find in my city, is also better. I would probably choose that disaster of a product CorePharma has recently been selling as generic Adderall over this Teva. The side effects have become so prominent for me, in particular edginess, irritability and then a level of pure anger that I have not experienced in 18 months on Adderall. For me, edginess and irritability have always been the side effects that are most prominent, but this month my temperament went well beyond edginess...it went to off the chart levels so much that I barely recognized the angry person I had become.

And those early in the month benefits I enjoyed declined as the month progressed. Another thing is the shocking loss of appetite I experienced. There has always been some appetite loss for me each month on Adderall, but nothing close to this. I have lost weight this month and it's not in a healthy way that comes from eating better or more exercise. My personal conclusion, based on my 28 days of experience with this new Teva is...proceed with caution if using this product. This medication requires diligent daily management of benefits vs. side-effects..more so than any other generic Adderall I've tried...and now that the pill bottle is empty, I will not choose this Teva again.

The ones that had zero effect on me if not made me feel worse were the brand name adderall (mfg by teva) what I took was 30 mg, large orange round, one side had a dp and the other a 30 with a line running thru the middle. The day I discontinued the med I took the last dose in the morning, that afternoon I went back to my old script which made me feel better (football shaped, orange, one side is 30 with a line running thru the middle, other side is b 974) this is the generic adderall also mfg by teva. Although the generic worked compared to the brand name its still far from the generic adderall I had 3 months prior from the same mfg.

Just wanted to give all you guys that follow this thread (or potential new posters) a quick update. I posted here myself several times explaining how the adderall stopped working the day I filled my new script. I actually switched over to extended release, and let me tell you - I seem to be back on track!
Most if not all the mental benefits are back as opposed to the stuff teva makes. Its still not as potent as it was when I started taking the med, but given thay its xr I am not really complaining. The effects are consistent throughout the day, very little brain fog. There are even moments when I have full clarity, and the static in my head halts to a stop. Overall mood is better, balanced as opposed to euphoric. I am more calm and motivated. The pills are orange capsules with a R 3061 on one side, mfg by cap shire. Hope this helps!

I have battled with a few medications and different generics having different effects.

If you take the time to notice this, you obviously, i feel, are in tune with your body. Pharmacies use different generics for cost. The active drugs are fda approved and the fillers are not. Also manufacturers have to have a range of the active ingredient not the exact same amount. So, you can tell your pharmacist that you would like a certian brand ordered. Anywhere should do this up to 48hrs before, but the more notice the better. Worst case they may ask you to pay the difference if your preferred generic is that much more. It's your choice and right to ask your pharmacy. If they deny this tell them you will switch to somewhere who does and i bet they change their tune.

Remember its one of america's biggest industries. Big pharma. Good luck!

For those of you who still had doubts about Core discontinuation...

"Per your request, please be advised that all strengths of the Mixed Amphetamine Salts IR tablets have been “commercially discontinued” as of May 1st, 2017. There may still be product available throughout the supply channels, but unfortunately we are no longer manufacturing this product line.

Sincerely,

I have d-amphetamine salt combo 20 mg tablets AND just approved for NAME BRAND ADDERALL 20 mg TABLETS. One is oval b973 one side, 20 other side. ADDERALL 20 mg round dp one side, 20 reverse side - both are scored and both are orange and both are manufactured by Teva. Checked with Shire they no longer manufacture Adderall IR ONLY SR (capsules). So why then is Teva making 2 different generics. They both are ineffective and descriptions of each are the same.
I need to get another authorization to go back to the Adderall XR 25 mg but it must be made by Shire or it's just another generic! This is totally absurd and when you do investigate by yourself, unfortunately you're looked at as a drug addict!

Teva bought Barr so that's the 973 generic. They recently reformulated this one. They're ok but very up and down. Teva bought dp after Shire sold to dp. Don't be fooled that the brand is better than the generic 973. Shire pulled a fast one and sold dp a reformulated version of the Brand. Shire did this to so they would have new Vyvanse on patent. Bottom line $$$. I have taken recently the Sandoz generic Adderall XR which is a "Authorized Generic" for Shire. Shire makes it for Sandoz and Pracso and it's EXACTLY the same as the Adderall XR Brand. The only difference is the huge price you will pay for Shire. Look up what a AG (Authorized Generic) is...the only difference is the labeling. The Sandoz XR was very weak. Again, Shire reformulated the XR for clear sailing with patented Vyvanse (which I did not like). I just filled the last of the Corepharma 30 mg yesterday. Impax, owner of Core has discontinued all generic IR. All they make is their own version of XR now..bummer. The Sandoz XR (Shire) was ok for a few days but lost all potency. As Core is now gone, I'Il need to make a decision which way I go...probably Teva 973 - the worst tasting sweet med ever invented. Hope this helps.

Everything made by Teva is absolutely ineffective in my opinion. I have tried the XR capsules made by Shire, as well as the "authorized generics" XR's made by Sandoz and Prasco. All three XR formulations are exactly the same and feel exactly the same to me. I can't tell a difference between the three.

I agree. I refilled Teva from Walgreens and it felt like it barely worked. Aurobindo IR is still worse than any. I got refilled for X-R and IR today and only let Walgreens refill my XR from prasco which is excellent.

The Prasco's from Walgreens are very effective. I've been taking Prasco 20mg XR and Sandoz 10mg IR and they both work great for my symptoms.

I tried Corepharma Adderall IR back in 2013, and I found it to be very weak, and efficacy
In that same year they received the FDA warning letter poor quality control in

Some people have commented that it is now much better (more potent)

I have always been a fan of Teva 30mg Adderall IR - I find it to be very potent and efficacious.
This is simply a personal preference.....

One warning to all: Avoid, at all costs , generic Adderall IR manufactured by Mallinckrodt --
it is ----absolutely--- worthless- and you can search the net and you will find a similar opinions

I agree. Considering what is out there, Teva, in my opinion, is stronger, especially than Corepharma.

It is not as potent --as it once was-- but it is still better than the alternatives

So is Corepharma no longer manufacturing Adderall IR?
