Adderall Dosage/frequency

I have been taking Adderall XR for about 7 years for narcolepsy. I have always taken 10 mg each morning; and recently my doctor increased my perscription to 5-15 mg per day, so that I was given 5 mg. capsules and had the option of taking an extra 5 mg each day. I find everyday I am tried by lunch and have a hard time staying awake, so I take that extra 5 mg. capsule around 1:00 in the afternoon. But sometimes by taking that extra 5 mg I get a really bad headache, and to be honest I still am tired. Would it be better to take the full 15 mg in the morning? I just have never taken that much at once and was afraid to try it. Any advice would be appreciated.

It is available in a 15mg dose to be taken at once, as a matter of fact it goes up to 30mgs, so it likely won't hurt to try, since you're obviously used to the medication, having been taking it for so long.

Unless your doctor has given you some reason why they think you shouldn't take it all in one dosage.

That extra bolus at that time may just be too much, if your body isn't used to the stimulation at that time of day.

Is anyone else familiar with this medication and has advice to offer?

You should try a Allertec or Provigil it will help keep you awake without putting your body through the stress of an amphetamine.
