Adderall & Compulsive Shopping

I am looking for feedback from others re: experiences with Adderall (both XR and standard release) and compulsive shopping as a side effect. Has anyone else experienced this? What did you do? Did you find an alternative drug for ADHD that did not cause this in you?

I don't know if the compulsive shopping is as much a side effect as maybe that the adderall is changing your impulse control? Can I ask if before starting it, did you already like to shop but then maybe stopped yourself in some cases where now you don't stop yourself? I also wanted to ask how you find your moods to be when taking it vs not on it? Does it lift you up and make your mood feel better or just level you out or cause you to feel down a bit? I am thinking that maybe it makes you feel a bit 'manic' and then because of that you dont worry so much about consequences? I hope you dont mind me asking these things or making conclusions but I think some effects especially with this class of drugs can vary in a big way and you know that they don't always put everything on the rx bottles. Has anyone had a change in their impulse control or inhibitions from Adderall?

I'm on 3 x 30mg tabs a day & I can relate. I make my living with hustle. Everyday I'm hustling. N that's a strictly cash business. N often I'll accumulate a substantial net pocket + without even realizing I'm doing it, I spend EVERY LAST DOLLAR at Walmart or the $ tree. So you are not alone.

I am on a medication Ritalin for ADHD, and if I am not at Walmart ..I am online shopping. I bought some boots and bought the same color again. My husband is always on me for buying this and that. We moved to MO to a bigger home then we had and having a ball buying everything we can afford. I have never been this bad. Also with all the pain I live each day with, shopping online is so easy, you don't have to leave your house. I am not a hoarder but I buy and give so much to goodwill and am vets. They are wearing some nice clothes thanks to me. And home stuff is at its peak. It's my new excuse to shop. Shopping doesn't make me hurt as bad as I really do. I get up and feel just severe pain in many parts of my body. I'm worthless. Is there anytime for shopaholics??? Please let me know.

I take Adderall to compliment my antidepressant. It just gives me a lift to do daily jobs etc. I am having to up dosage because I am building a tolerance. I don't compulsive shop. I just get more done and then feel better about myself.

I never took Adderall but when Darvon was available for my intense pain (Rheumatoid Arthritis since 1972), i had the same shopping compulsion. But my mother & sister just naturally shopped till they dropped. However, they could afford to!

I have noticed that in the past few years, my shopping compulsion has gotten worse. I shop online. Also, I have uncontrollable movement of toes. I'm thinking it was happening before I got on Adderal. I'm thinking it might have been Abilify.
