Adderall Backorder (Page 96) (Top voted first)
UpdatedI take generic Adderall 20 mg for narcolepsy and there is not one local pharmacy that has it in stock. I have never had this problem before. The pharmacies are saying that it's on backorder from the manufacturer. Is anyone else having problems getting their scripts filled?
Re: Cyr (# 1002)
The only thing I'm aware of that we can do as consumers is report a shortage to the FDA for your local pharmacy(s.) Other than that, we just have to sort of wait it out, and utilize what options we do have for filling. Since you're seeing a psychiatrist, I would def ask for help. My psychiatrist's office has been very sincere about the issue, and the office admin was even calling pharmacies for multiple patients.
Re: JuanEstebanPHd (# 1083)
You need to talk with the pharmacist or Pharmacy Manager.

A shortage of drugs in the U.S.
Hard to believe
Re: Ashley (# 1166)
High demand, low supply, cost of production has gone up and DEA regulations are extremely strict on controlled substance manufacturing and distribution, of course. So it's not as simple as just ramping up production, unfortunately. It's kind of a shame, since amphetamine is a very simple and cheap drug to manufacture, but that's why less manufacturers are in the game - with inflation, the costs of ingredients/chemical precursors, and production has gone up and because of DEA volume restrictions, I'm sure for some they are no longer profiting as much, or not solvent at all. ADHD is very real and these meds can be life changing, but everyone must not forget, it is, ultimately, a huge business. And if the players can't profit, they leave the table.

Re: BlessedLady (# 1310)
Blessed, my PCP prescribed Tramadol for my back pain. I was given 7 out of 30. And told to go to pain management. That's Medicare for you
Re: Racer01 (# 1325)
What have you done for the last week? Did the provider prescribe something else? Or did the pharmacy just do nothing as they are supposed to call your provider!! My best friend has been out 5 days and nobody at the pharmacy is helping her with a solution and the drs office now said the pharmacy never contacted them when CBS claims they have then also tried to claim that they never said they would (except they did 5 seperate days in a row) CVS incompetence just gets worse and worse!! My poor best friend NEEDS this medicine and it is affecting her life and nobody seems to care! It's disgusting! Insurance company doesn't want to cover anything else which is illegal in a shortage and nobody wants to be held accountable!!
Re: l0ft (# 1364)
THIS INFO IS INCORRECT according to my sources.
If you have reputable journalism or data driven statements of fact then please provide them. Otherwise you're post is misinformation, which is counter-productive and unhelpful at best.
"Nearly two-thirds of community pharmacies had trouble ordering the popular attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder drug Adderall at the end of July and beginning of August, at a time when demand is at all-time highs....
The growth of telehealth businesses dedicated to helping people secure ADHD diagnoses and treatments is likely behind some of the spiking demand for the drug."
This Bloomberg article charts Adderall scripts year over year. Demand has doubled in 10 yrs to 40 million, and increased by 10% since last year. That's Demand.
Teva 's supply issues are supply.
More demand, less supply simultaneously.

Re: Kru98386 (# 1416)
Absolutely amazing how social media misinterprets and contorts.
1. No "blame" is being assigned to Telehealth.
2. No "blame" is being assigned at all.
3. Media is being shared, and I personally haven't confirmed THEIR reports
If anything I have SPECULATED on the culpability or negligence of the FDA, DEA, and Big Pharma for distorting or denying the facts.
How that got condensed into blaming Telehealth is kookoo imo. I reject your attack and cite flawed comprehension. Perhaps inattentiveness?
Just providing info via links doesn't mean I agree with their journalism. People need to be offered the info.... They decide to reject or accept the narrative. I have no dog in this fight. R E L A X and be kind... Let's keep it Civil and friendly on this thread. Can Americans NOT get cantankerous about ANYTHING anymore? (Rhetorical)
Re: Kru98386 (# 1414)
The Schedule of a drug is based on the possibly of abuse. Opiates and Stimulants are highly likely to be abused.
Re: Christine (# 1481)
So is this thread just about grievance using ALL CAPS and exclamation points? It was once a forum to relay information about shortages, availability and brand efficacy. May I suggest we not degrade this into a venting of anger and frustration? Nobody who is going without proper medication is happy.... But not everyone is screaming like a Martyr. Please folks, self control?
Re: Cyr (# 1511)
COSTCO! You don't have to be a member and they have them 95% of the time! Use goodrx app or site to see prices. They way often are under my insurance. Good luck and try it.
Re: Cyr (# 1511)
A few points of clarification for all who may be confused by misinformation on this space.
1. This public information thread/forum is not a private messaging app for bilateral communication.
2. The Supreme Court case about the NH generic manufacturer means that UNLESS THEY BOTCHED UP THE RECIPE, a generic company cannot be held liable for adverse side effects or reactions associated with the FDA Approved Brand drug. It's a narrow opinion as I see it. If they lace thier generic with poison then of course they have liability. Simple.
3. Walmart is the #3 seller of pharmaceuticals nationwide. If CVS and Walgreens can't meet your need due to no supply...try Walmart. Period. Any pharmacy in one State or region does not represent the national supply. Walmart buys in larger quantities than many chains due to Volume discounts, sector leverage, and storage capacity.
3. It you ACTUALLY KNOW you are incapable of focusing due to your ADHD, then consider refraining from posting rather than typing unhelpful garbage. Just a thought.
4. IF you are experiencing anger or depression. Suicidal ideation, or emotional trauma due to Adderall shortages or poor quality meds, perhaps it's a good idea to inform your doctor. Yes. It's a terrible situation for those who need meds, and it can be depressing or infuriating. Seeking professional help is perhaps prudent. Pondering about dying in a natural disasters because Lannett isn't locally available might be considered "inappropriate affect" considering the actual loss of life, and mass destruction being triaged.
Re: Easy e (# 1552)
Sucks, bro. I'd try to find a new doctor willing to write you a paper script if you can
Re: Sleepyhead (# 1558)
You doctor can prescribe another medication.
Re: HCStymie (# 1661)
Formulary is not formula or a recipe. A formulary "a list of prescription drugs covered by a prescription drug plan or another insurance plan offering prescription drug benefits. Also called a drug list." Teva did become the brand name manufacturer but there's no evidence that they changed their recipe. That's not required. So FYI your post is misinformation.
Re: tim (# 1684)
Thank you for sharing what you think Medschat moderators are supposed to do. Actually, you're incorrect. "Community Moderation is the practice of managing comments and discussions from members/users on your platform so it aligns with your **Terms and Conditions and/or Code of Conduct,** usually done by a community moderator or team of moderators. A large part of becoming a good online community moderator is knowing how to strike the balance between controlling conversations to maintain order, contributing to keep conversations fresh, and giving members, employees or customers enough freedom to feel like they can express themselves"
By your own definition, introducing a post about content moderators is "off topic" and perhaps you should open a separate thread about content moderators. Sorry Tim, but you don't get to be the boss of people's opinions. Yes, it's frustrating to feel as though everything from Adderall shortages to people's opinions are not in your control. If it is causing you duress, and nevertheless feel compelled to read the posts, then I assume you are aware that there are professionals who can address the compulsion to act in self-harmful activity. Many would agree that it's more convenient to be a King and make rules and laws that suit you. Uncertainty about differences opinion can be frustrating. If it's creating irritability and hostility in my personal experience, I remember that they're symptoms of Adderall withdrawal or excess. Or being "hangry" or needing an illusion of control. That's sometimes helpful in my experience. I hope you feel better soon!

Re: MelR (# 1768)
No. I’ve called at least 20 pharmacies over the past couple of weeks and they are all on back order. I have not been able to fill my prescription since December.
Re: Ryelee (# 1791)
If you're taking 70 mg a day then you're being over prescribed technically. Max recommended 40 for ADD and 60 for narcolepsy.
