I take generic Adderall 20 mg for narcolepsy and there is not one local pharmacy that has it in stock. I have never had this problem before. The pharmacies are saying that it's on backorder from the manufacturer. Is anyone else having problems getting their scripts filled?

Yeah johnny. The daily forums just validates what people think about those who take the drug. Honestly this one guy on here inspected all his pills for every difference in printing of the "adderall xr" labeling on each pill and even had percentage stats of the bottle he had in front of him which im guess was nearly empty.

To: Molly O and Heather: After just reading the most recent posts here, are you two as shocked as I am? The number of people that actually believe the government is conspiring to keep prescription meds off the street amazes me. To those with paranoid delusions: Ya think maybe the DEA has got enough to do fighting illicit drugs to keep them busy? PS. I just filled my 30 mg adderall script, like I do every month. There was a small shortage due to the unplanned increase in prescriptions. We have a free enterprise system, and if there's buyers, there will be product!

The post before this was made as a reply to "Blame Obama". Nothing personal to all you sane people out there. BTW: I do believe that the government is doing a terrible job controlling this country, but it's hard to think only the president is at fault.

Let's be realistic. Do you actually think the president of this country has so much free time that he would put his energy into changing supply of certain ADD medicines? Your level of paranoid thinking is similar to many drug addicts. Do you have a clue how laws are made or how bills are passed? This is not a dictatorship. And there are no fences keeping you in the United States. You are free to go to another country and try complaining about their leader. You might get a wake-up call.

The DEA is are the ones that created the shortage! They controll the raw ingredients for the drug!

It's the same here is PA. Since I dont have insurance I'm trying to look for an OTC that can at least help me focus. I lost a job because of my ADD, thankfully my boss of the past 6 years totally understands what I go through with ADD.

My friend found a substitute called AddieUp that apparently has four stimulants. He liked them. I haven't tried them but my pharmacy is out of the Pink tablets which I think are basically fake. The orange 20 mg have been on backorder for months. I'll try them and report back...

No Adderal for anyone. Because the FDA has a Ceiling. Wrote my peace to them, wondering if it folds on deaf or non-decsript ears.

Good news. The pharmacies in my area, Olive Branch MS, have adderall now. My doctor even said that it was no longer on back order. They have been giving out scripts for 10's and 20's and so far, no one has not been able to get it filled. Back to being productive.

It is completely a government issue. They have ordered the pharma companies to cut back on their supply. The big pharma companies wouldn't stop making their product on purpose. That cuts into their profits.

You are so right. This isn't making any sense to us lay people. I don't mind traveling for my script. What I mind is going from $32.00 to 169.00 or worse $435.00 all for the same number of pills, etc. Price goughing?

This doesn't make any sense. If I was able to fill my prescription through Feb why is there an issue? My local CVS did not have quantity but their location 5 miles away did. The FDA does not have the authorization to override a doctor's prescription. If it is written by a medical professional, the FDA can't gently step in and say nope, not till after 2012. None of this makes sense. A shortage, I can understand that. A restriction on production for a prescription drug...???

I hate to suggest contacting a pharmacy in NJ or another nearby state. My normal pharmacy in IL in the SW Chicago suburbs did not have the quantity to fill my script but the alternate CVS 5 miles away did. It's probably a geographic problem and could be based on demand. If you're willing to travel or order through your pharmacy VIA mail it seems the product is available just limited.

From the Pharmacy and its all over the internet its capped for the rest of the year the DEA regulates all narcatics and controllled substances and whn the cap is reached thats it, weather the number they had was grossly under estimated or what there are a few pharmacies that have it but many many many are out and I imagine it would depend on where you live but I know where I am its almost impossible to find right now
