I take generic Adderall 20 mg for narcolepsy and there is not one local pharmacy that has it in stock. I have never had this problem before. The pharmacies are saying that it's on backorder from the manufacturer. Is anyone else having problems getting their scripts filled?

The DEA sets quotas and supplies the ingredients to make the drug to the big pharm companies. This is true for all class II narcotics. That quota is based on an estimate made once a year. Once out, manufacturers have to wait until next year, hence the shortage.

I completely agree with you. The strangest thing is that you can't find anything on the internet about this massive shortage. Has anyone heard anything recent as it pertains to this crazy shortage?

Who can we write or complain to about this shortage? My daughter and I are both on 20mg Adderall and have been to, Publix, Walgreens, CVS, Target, Costco, and Walmart, with no luck. Two days ago with a doctors appointment and a new perscription for Adderall XR 20mg she was able to to get 30 of them for $124.00 with insurance. Usually her copay is $10 for the Generic 20mg Adderall for 60 of them. Something is terribly wrong. I don't have insurance and certainly cannot afford to pay the $300 for 30 of the XR's even if someone does happen to have them. I am at a loss as to what to do or who to contact. Why does the government always feel the need to protect the abusers from themselves while those with a legitimate need, pay the price?

Same thing going on in Dearborn Michigan 20 mg adderall tablets nowhere to be found. No ones knows why or when they will get more..I don't understand its just on "backorder" everywhere. Stupid drug companies. Smh

thanks that's where I normally go but they have been on back order. went to publix next to home depot on 134 st and us1 and they said none there.

Same i went to atleast seven different pharmacies and publixs- i ended up switching my script to 30mg because i wasnt willing to take 4x 10mg a day, i the walgreens on us1 and 112th has them in stock

I take the generic quick release 15mg and mine is on backorder as well. I take it for ADHD.

When you go to the pharmacy with your script, ask the pharmacist when their truck/supply comes in. They will usually tell you. Speak to the pharmacist, not anyone else.

In 2012 the DEA filed an $80M case against 1 of the three distribution centers for Wall greens. It is located in Florida. This included suspending the distribution of type 2-5 drugs. This is reported to be in effect until September of 2014 based on what is posted on the internet Ironically it was due to Oxycodone not Adderal but affects its availability just the same. I had to switch pharmacies. When they wanted to charge me 10 times the normal price for my prescription I decided there had to be a problem with Wallgreens rather than Adderal.

my next question is how will we know when the Adderall is available. without sounding like a crackhead and going to your local pharmacies twice a week. I was told to check back on the 15th which was yesterday and I did and they were still out .. Idk, what to do now. I can definitely feel the difference.

This happened in Michigan to me about six months ago for "supply issues". Once they found out the demand outweighed the supply they raised the price of prescription by about 250% of normal cost. I was on 60mg of IR at the time and paid $50 a month until this happened. Eventually the supply came back however they never quite lowered the price back. I paid $200+ to get the last 40 pills at Target (20 short) from $50... but even now IR is still $130, over double its original price. If you're lucky though and have insurance I suppose it doesn't matter then... but if you don't, plan on paying more from now on.

I've been trying for 5 weeks to get adderall 10 mg. None of the pharmacies in town have it. So I told my dr and he gave me 20 mg prescription. Now the two pharmacies I've tried so far don't have that, either. What is going on?

I've been having the same problem getting my prescript, but it's gotten worse the past few months. I've done some research, and it sounds like the manufacturers are probably tapped out for the year. They're only allowed to produce a certain amount per year. One pharmacacy said they don't plan to get a batch til mid January. Luckily, we're coming into the new year so hopefully shortages will subside ;)

I am having the same problem here in St. Louis. I was able to get the prescription filled at Schnuck's (my local pharmacy is Walgreens and has been out for 2 months). I usually get the Teva/Barr from Walgreens. I am on it for Narcolepsy since July and it has worked great, but once I had to switch to the other generic Core Pharmaceuticals because that is what Schnuck's carries and it does not seemed to be working. I haven't reached out to a whole lot of other pharmacies in the area, but the pink generic just is not working. Anyone heard when more will be produced or when the shortage will end?

Yup, Charlotte NC's annual Amphetamine-Salt shortage. No one here has them. I get 105 30mg Adderall, and then 70mg Vyvanse... try having your doctor (though when this happened last year mine did) write an equivalent RX for dextro-stat (generic)... comes in 5s and 10s...

I live in Kansas City, MO and I can't find a pharmacy that has 20 mg generic Adderall in stock. No pharmacist can tell me when it will be available,and those few who seem to have even the slightest bit of a clue can only advise that " they seem to be on back order". Is anyone else having this problem? Any advice?

It seems like we go through this once a year. I take Adderall 30mg and have for 5 years. Last year there was a manufacturer shortage in California this time of year. Now I went to refill my prescription and we have a shortage again!
