Adderall Backorder (Page 76) (Top voted first)

Updated

I take generic Adderall 20 mg for narcolepsy and there is not one local pharmacy that has it in stock. I have never had this problem before. The pharmacies are saying that it's on backorder from the manufacturer. Is anyone else having problems getting their scripts filled?

Re: JR (# 1164) Expand Referenced Message

The last time I was given Teva at Walgreens was early this year. March I think. However they seemed to be old and crumbled easily.
I was getting Lannett at Walgreens in 2020 and 2021. They were adequate. I really don't know if my local independent will order Teva, even though ABC is their supplier. They would not in the past. I can hope. Thanks for the information

Some Walgreens here in FL will not tell you what they have in stock even if you are standing in front of them with your Walgreens bottle from another store for only 7 pills. I had to insist on having tech ask the pharmacist. After 15 minutes I went to the consult window and asked her myself. She gave bottle back to tech and said yes, she could fill when she got the script.

Florida is a different story. Pill mills here. Very strict pharmacy rules. Walgreens is afraid of DEA fines. About 5-6 years ago,3 of our local Walgreens pharmacies went on voluntary CII restrictions to avoid DEA sanctions. Granted it was an opioid issue but affected all CII meds. They were over-filling, whatever that means. Filling legally written prescriptions. So with online prescribing gearing up during pandemic, perhaps Walgreens has initiated self-imposed restrictions again. Or it could be PBMs.

I get my script from my PCP but I’m wondering how easy it is to get adderall prescribed on those online startups that advertise on social media?

I’m all for making it easy for people to get the medical help they need but if any and every body can get a prescription then it affects us who genuinely need the meds.

It’s so unfair ??

Re: DeeCaffeinated (# 1182) Expand Referenced Message

I actually use an online service to get my prescription. I have no insurance and have severe adult ADHD and GAD. It's worked great until now with every pharmacy being out of stock. Not to mention it's extremely difficult to contact my doctor through these online services. But I imagine a lot of the people getting the meds I need to function do not really need them. Which will make it more difficult for me to use this service. I've now been 2 days without and Walgreens isn't sure when they'll get more. I've been trying to contact my doctor so she'll change the dosage to 15, 10 or 5's because apparently they have them in stock. No luck so far.

Walgreens in NJ is also out of stock of adderall. The pharmacist told me she has ordered it for the last three weeks and the only thing that came in was 10 mg

I believe the DEA has cracked down on those online prescribers that arose during the pandemic. Here is some info from a month or so ago:

"As a result of the rise in Adderall prescriptions, major pharmacies in the U.S. have started refusing to fill certain prescriptions from telehealth providers. According to The Wall Street Journal, Walmart, CVS, and Walgreens have all recently blocked or delayed stimulant prescriptions from telehealth providers treating ADHD online, including Cerebral and Done.”

Attached is an article in reference to this issue.

I'm in the same situation with the same dosage. I used to go to Costco after my 'mom and pop shop' stopped getting it and would even hold it for me monthly - without a script. I flipped. I found some at Costco and used my goodrx and it was under $40... I want to say $30. Try that one if there is one near you. On top of that, I don't know what to do about the lack of Teva, either go off (no way!) try Ritalin (which I've done with no great effect) or try the alternative brands, which I don't want to do due to an allergic reaction to Aurobindo. I can't afford to play games with my body and mind as no one on this chat can do and are struggling with. I wish you the best of luck. I wish us ALL luck.

Been on it for ages - since I was a kid. And I know people who are on 120mg a day. Doctor can override the maximum recommended dose. (Guessing keyword is recommended) wish i could post a photo.

JR, do you think that means that 30mg generic IRs will also become available in New Jersey this week @ Walgreens?

Are you saying you are getting TEVA brand filled? If yes, what area are you from and what dosage? Thanks in advance.

Do you know the price difference of 'true' Adderall? Or at least is it much more, like sky high? If Teva runs out, I may have to turn to this... #backupplan

Re: Rcma (# 1100) Expand Referenced Message

My intention is not to criticize but to expand what you understand. I've been taking generic Adderall in the form of amphetamine salts for the past 23 years and I can assure you that the both quality and the accessibility have gone down the tubes the past few years. The "art" of having one's meds on hand has always been an exercise in coordination and cooperation. But changes in the system have taken most of the control out of our hands. Patients can no longer pick up and handle deliver their own prescriptions; they're at the mercy of their prescribers to manage that for them. Attempts to [seamlessly] medicate went out the window with my provider's latest mandate: No prescription will be issued before it's due. Add that to the fact that the prescriptions for Adderall and amphetamine salts can't be refilled, so patients start from square one every month. Worrying about refills is a constant in my life. And a revolving prescriber staff [5 in one year!] at the Psych I go to makes my daily dose a crap shoot from month to month.

Re: JR (# 1149) Expand Referenced Message

This is good news! I’m in the DFW TX area and Walgreens pharmacist today still told me no date in sight yet. She told me last month when my refill was due (06/05) that it wouldn’t be until July 09 or later. Now she can’t even confirm that. This is nuts! Hoping the shipments make it to Tx soon!

Yes, the ones made by Camber will put you to sleep if they do anything. I hope you get your Teva back.

I am randomly reaching out to you with hopes you can explain to me why I can not post my own thread? I can reply, but can not create my own new topic or a question. Any pointers or hints please?

At the bottom of page before ads (on my phone) is a box that says post a reply. It is for a new comment, not replying to anyone in particular. Try that.

Have any of you thought about trying a different stimulant medication? I simply had to take something else. I can't make myself do anything that isn't absolutely necessary without a med that covers my executive dysfunction. I struggle to make phone calls. I am having my house tented for termites next week and had to make preparations, so doing without wasn't an option for me. I saw my doctor on July 5th after spending the holiday weekend in bed. We decided to try Focalin 20mg bid. It isn't ideal, but at least I am not miserable and it was readily available. If I can get TID approved, it might work as well as the poor generic Adderall I have been taking since February. Since I had not it taken it before, I had no expectations I hope a solution to the poor Adderall generics can be found. Good luck everyone
