I take generic Adderall 20 mg for narcolepsy and there is not one local pharmacy that has it in stock. I have never had this problem before. The pharmacies are saying that it's on backorder from the manufacturer. Is anyone else having problems getting their scripts filled?

I was prescribed Adderall today for the first time in my life. I've never been on regular meds and hardly ever took them when prescribed for what either an injury, a kidney infection, broken ribs or even a gunshot wound. I would take them at first for a coupe of days and as soon as I could move about, was done with them. My local Walgreens knows from my info in the system, that if I come in with a prescription, it's because it's medically necessary. They can also see that unlike most in S. Florida who are whom are given refills for pain meds, mine still remain open in their system. So, I was taken back by their behavior today when I when in to get my prescription filled.

Never having been on Adderall before, I was oblivious to all the shortages, the difficulties people were having filling their prescriptions, the online pushers, not even the stance that chain pharmacies had taken not the policies they've adopted. So I walk in with the prescription in hand and give it to them along with my ID and insurance card. It was at this time, when I saw the clerk inspecting the prescription like an archeologist with a papyrus scroll, that I immediately thought to myself the same thing that every does when a cop car pulls up behind (especially if they did nothing wrong "Oh F***! What now?". And just like a cop, he needed to pull some more clerks and pharmacist in to provide some more forensic analysis. It was at this time that I arrived to the point where I could no longer control myself from asking why they've Encyclopedia Brown my s***. Apparently, the Scooby Doo Gang couldn't solve the mystery of what to do and took it over to the pharmacist for further dissection.

It's during that examination, that notice how they keep looking back at me; almost as if they're expecting me to break out sweating. Finally, I could not longer contain myself, and ask what's the problem. Little did I know that I had to pass an oral exam to get a prescription filled. And like a teakettle, I just zipped past the simmering stage and put my lips together and blew out air in order stop from asking if they want blood and urine. So, after watching them for 30 minutes look for either answers or the freaking Adderall inside of computer screen, the post it notes on the wall, the carpet...... everywhere except the big-ass shelves directly behind them, they finally all starting nodding in agreement, looking like a bunch of bobblehead dolls in white coats after hitting one of the potholes on I-95. The pharmacist headed towards me, looking like she was either going to ask me to stand on one leg, tilt my head back and touch my nose or inform me that they have determined that the paper my prescription is written is pregnant.

Little did I know, as I left Walgreen's with my pregnant prescription, thinking WTF?!, that this would be just the opening act for the afternoon that laid ahead. If I would have known then what the rest of the day would be like, I would have talked myself into accepting that I've dealt with this all my life, so what's a few more days of having zero patience for bad drivers, rude people, clueless customer service agents couple with a little lack in judgement and erratic decision making; just another day. But no; I had to dive into this mess like a tick on a bloodhound. Needless to say, my day ended when I started to feel like I was back in Iraq, searching through every cave and up every camel's ass for WMDs that didn't exist. I almost called the doc and asked if either I'm being Punk'ed or is this some secret government test gone awry.

I'm not sure what black-hole of the internet I travelled through to get here, but let's just say that I need to get on this medication soon because last I recall I was doing some analysis for work at 9:30 in the evening and it's now 5am.

How can a drug screen be done online? These businesses will have to stop prescribing Schedule II drugs when the Federal Emergency due to covid ends anyway. Looks like that is coming up soon.

Yes, I'm aware of that, as my own doctor's have used it. And you started it before. Don't worry, I saw it. ;)

I just thought it would be helpful for anyone who is currently using these specific services/companies. They're already being investigated by the DEA, so if anyone as a patient, are experiencing problems at the pharmacy it's probably bc pharmacies have began to block prescriptions from prescribers they've flagged from these companies. I read cerebral is also going to start initiating urine screens as well. There's also a lawsuit by a former VP.

Federal law requires a doctor patient relationship at least one face to face visit before prescribing Schedule II medications. When the pandemic started and a Federal Emergency was declared. That law was temporarily changed to not require a doctor patient relationship, at least one face to face meeting before prescribing a Schedule II drug. Technically it is still in affect until the Federal Emergency due to the pandemic is lifted. But the change has been abused by certain new companies.

The only thing I'm aware of that we can do as consumers is report a shortage to the FDA for your local pharmacy(s.) Other than that, we just have to sort of wait it out, and utilize what options we do have for filling. Since you're seeing a psychiatrist, I would def ask for help. My psychiatrist's office has been very sincere about the issue, and the office admin was even calling pharmacies for multiple patients.

If possible try Costco pharmacy. I've used CVS for 20 years and never had a problem until a few months ago. My wife found it at Costco and it was filled within 20 minutes. I was shocked, as I kept getting told by everyone that it's out of stock everywhere around me. Just filled it for a 2nd time again and just as easy as the first. Didn't even use insurance and it was under $60.

I take 30 mgs XRs, there's a shortage of that particular dose here in Michigan. I'm hearing that it's all doses of generic Adderall are experiencing shortages.

Yes! I experienced the same issue and I’m from Indiana. Both CVS and Walgreens are experiencing a shortage for stimulant meds. I’ve been two weeks without it and I’m just a sloth and having withdrawals!

Louisiana has been doing this since July! Every month I have to wait a couple days for my adderall. It’s just odd that a huge pharmaceutical company cannot keep up with the manufacturing of their drug. I hope this is not a drug being made in China with all the lockdowns there. But most of it is made in China. Which scares the hell out of me all around. Definitely time to get off of all pharmaceuticals, they are the cause of everyone’s illnesses to begin!

Meds are still out of stock and I'm still stressing. Prescription was sent in on the 29th, now it's the 3rd. Now my first day without any meds. I went by the pharmacy yesterday and asked how long they estimate it will be. The pharmacist told me Wednesday. No hesitation, he was short with answers and seemed quite confident about it. Which is reassuring, but also makes me wonder how/if he actually knows, and if he was just saying a random day to move me along. Last time I was given a restock date at this location it was accurate. I have some hope. I guess I'll find out tomorrow!

I am at least reassured to see everyone is having the same problem and it isn't just my local Walgreens. I tried to get my script filled on April 28th and same thing, they said they were out of stock of Adderall XR 20mg and would be ordering more.
I see some people saying to switch to a different dose or generic/not generic.... but I am just going to hold tight. From what I am hearing they are out of basically all the doses. I really hope this doesn't last a long time but the way it looks we might be out for at least a month. I'm from southeast Michigan by the way.

Yes!! I went to Walgreens on a Wednesday to fill the prescription for generic 39 mg Adderall and was told that they were out and would be ordering more. Told me to check back the next day or day after that. I called on a Thursday and I was told that they had no idea when they would get any!!

One pharmacist told me the shortage all started with the 20mg pills, as this is sort of the standard dose. But he said, once that happened, it slowly started affecting the smaller doses, because the doctors were all just writing scripts for like 2x10mg and 1x5mg,1x15mg etc... Which is the obvious solution.. Except that, it is now creating shortages in all dose ranges. From what I've been told the 25mg and 30mg seem to be OK, for the most part. Best of luck, all of this is truly ridiculous.

Well, it's been a month since I got my last prescription, so here I am again. Last month I got prescribed 20mg for the first time, going up from my starting dose of 10mg, and struggled with the 20s being out of stock. My CVS was able to get them quite quickly, but it was still nervewracking. This time I'm trying 15mgs, 20 made me a bit too hyper focused and jittery. I also had some hope that 15s would be less in demand and therefore easier to obtain, I pictured some old dusty bottles of 15s pushed to the back of the shelf, outclassed by the more standard 20s. But of course, my CVS app is immediately telling me that the 15s are out of stock, just like the damn 20s were. Luckily I was able to save some 20s by taking off a few days here and there, so I'll be good for a little while. I really wish getting my meds didn't have to be a pain in the ass, it's turned the last week of of the month into a particularly stressful time for me. Watching my nearly empty bottle become emptier each morning is psychological torture, because I know I'm at the mercy of CVS, and there's a decent chance they may deprive me of my meds indefinitely. That's a scary prospect for anyone who takes a medication that increases their quality of life so substantially. Anyway, just ranting to some people who I'm sure can relate. I just want mah damn adderall.

Major backorder is what I have been told. Multiple pharmacies have told me that they do not know when they are getting more in. This is for Adderall XR generic. One pharmacy nearby suggested I have my doctor try Adderall IR generic this month because they apparently have that in stock. Just something to mention, maybe. Best of luck, everyone.
