Adderall Backorder (Page 33)
UpdatedI take generic Adderall 20 mg for narcolepsy and there is not one local pharmacy that has it in stock. I have never had this problem before. The pharmacies are saying that it's on backorder from the manufacturer. Is anyone else having problems getting their scripts filled?
Re: SW (# 627)
That's weird....I live in Lakewood and am prescribed 20mg 2x a day and I've filled in January and Februry at two different walgreens and had no problem whatsoever......I wonder if this is specific to certain areas of the metro area or certain chains? I tried to use the new 24 hour CVS on Sheridan in December and they said they don't carry it yet because they are a new pharmacy, but they are also notorious for straight up lying about schedule II's (something about keeping schedule II fill numbers below a certain amount) Anyway, it was 11pm and even though it was out of the way, I went to the 24 hour walgreens on Colorado and Mississipi and they happily filled it.
not to say all this doesn't make me nervous though. I've been adderall since 2004 so I have suffered through many shortages, major price increases, generics that didn't work etc. *deep sigh*
Yes. I cannot find it anywhere in LA. Looking for suggestions as well. I’ve been trying to find it for over 2 weeks
Re: Sandra (# 642)
I always had good luck at the pharmacy attached to St. Johns in Santa Monica. The front of the hospital is on Santa Monica blvd and 20th or 24th or something. The pharmacy is on the north west side of the building. I haven’t been there in a couple years but they had it when nobody else did. Also, Costco in Torrance, though that’s a trip from LA.
FYI I have tried 2 different TEVA adderall products this month and neither was effective. I have been off all meds for 2 years (not a tolerance issue). It (BARR brand) worked perfectly for me 2 years ago. I tried an expired tablet from 2 year old prescription and it still worked flawlessly. My doctor is working me through this. However, the drug manufacturer is just dumping ineffective medicine (adderall) on the market. You will have no recourse if you purchase it.
Just type in (Google search) Adderall Manufactured By Teva Not Working (Newest posts first)....and see for yourself. I have made it my mission to inform people. This needs to stop. It is one thing to waste our time, but when they steal your money and do not give you the option to return their defective product, that is another thing entirely. What other product is simply "non-returnable" when it is defective? None. There are state laws in place that protect consumers of the other products. Not medication.
Re: Ridgerunner007 (# 638)
The generics are now the main players in the market. They have monopolized the market and formed agreements. They have contracts with major sellers, thereby locking them in for a set time frame. They have also begun obtaining most drugs from outside of the United States, and beyond the lazy-watch of the FDA. The makers are allowed to conduct evaluations and "self-report" their outcomes for their drugs to the FDA. What I am noticing is that there is a shell game going on with the adderall generic. For some months the company producing a decent med is mentioned, and then later, it is another company being touted as decent, while the previous first choice is not working entirely.
Then they tell you that their is a "shortage" (so you will simply take the bag handed you at the pharmacy and leave. Feeling fortunate that you got your medication). The shortage is happening because the major drug company is not the actual maker of the drug. The makers supply several drug SELLERS. The drug maker is told by the SELLER to meet their set price point for the drug or else. The maker in an effort to meet the set price point for the drug SELLER, is modifying the ingredients in the drugs. They are not manufacturing for quality, but to meet... the set price... from the SELLER. Notice, defective drugs are (still) non-returnable. Meaning once they got your money...they got your money. If they were returnable...this crxp would stop. Your credit card company (even) will not allow you to stop payment on a drug do to it being ineffective.
Re: Kristie (# 636)
If you're still searching in Dallas, I just (02/28/2018 - 17:00:00) filled at Preston Rd Pharmacy. 6901 Preston Rd Dallas, Tx. (214)-521-9991
It’s in short supply in Ventura Ca and Ojai Ca. Last month was the same. Tried everywhere. No one knows when they will get more.
Re: Dhr (# 647)
I had the same issue last month and now again this month in Boston Massachusetts they say it’s manufactured back order can’t find it anywhere
Re: Viny (# 4)
I am 59 years old and have taken adderall since they started making it and I take 60 milligrams a day. I agree with the lady that says too many young people don't have a clue, diets, exams, whatever reason you seek it your the reason for these problems we are having getting our medicine. Not myself, I have no problem getting my medicine from any pharmacies. Another little secret with all the complaints on withdrawals and all that body functioning BS when you don't have your MEDS, truth of the matter is you cant get hooked on any drug if its something you need to function normally, and if you are without it you should act like adults and just deal with it instead of complaining and wining about it. Like i said you have no clue, what's a few days of down time? lol.
Everybody sounds so desperate, they do make other medicines for the same thing. Obviously this desperation must be the reason for all the complaints on backorders. There's no problem where i live at all. Maybe they're aloud to tell the people they feel don't need it that it's on backorder? Well look at it this way you will have time to get thru withdrawals by B.O's.
Re: kelly (# 650)
thank you "Steve #645" ref post Feb 28 2018 "That is 110% good knowledge you state for me, I just want to thank you for sharing that data, as I have been around since the 1960's, and yes, you make very good sense, to me. I have been on legal stimulants for over 24 years in a row, and grew up when the "diet pills" were changed from "popular" to "very unpopular" in the 1970's!
From over 12 manufacturer's excluding methamphetamine, PLUS another 12 more manufacturer's in USA that manufactured the above ref 1968 PDR page 242, page 204, page 226 twenty second edition by Medical Economics Inc.
Gone with the wind are those days of outstanding quality IMHO. I just do the best I can now with what is left in the market.
I have had my M.D switch me from "adderall" to another C-II fast acting stim called dextroamphetamine sulfate (I got tired of exactly what you described as a "shell game" and the shortages and inconsistencies", and, now, the bottom line is "profit" and quality control went out the door, and prices also were "all over the place"
I hope this get published to assist those of us frustrated with the legit DX of ADHD and or ADD or Narcolepsy I am in my 60's. (age range).......
Yes I was too. And it caused severe issues with my doctor because I had to go to so many places to find it. They discharged me and said my behavior was inappropriate. It's absolutely ridiculous.
Has anyone had any luck finding Teva/Barr 30mg in Los Angeles? Been out for 2 months now. This is crazy!
Re: Elizabeth (# 648)
Filled mine on April 10th at CVS in Danvers. Generic 30mg tablets quantity of 90. If you haven't filled yet, try there.
Re: kelly (# 650)
I just reported your rude, unhelpful and uninformed comment.
Re: kelly (# 650)
Allow me to respond to your ridiculous rant. Other medicines being available for the same thing is fine, however if a doctor writes a prescription for a specific medication that doesn't mean they can fill it with something else, as doing so would be illegal.
Adderall is sometimes back ordered because it is over-prescribed. There are DEA limits that the drug companies must follow when producing controlled substances. If there is a shortage they must seek DEA approval to override that limit and manufacture additional quantities.
You wrote "maybe their aloud to tell the people they feel don't need it that its on back order". If you're going to be a condescending hypocrite please learn to spell correctly. They are not allowed (not aloud) to tell people it's on back order because they feel as though they don't need it. They are not doctors. They can verify the validity of the prescription with the doctor and that's it.
So please Kelly, if you don't know any of the facts don't waste anyone's time posting your rude rants.
If it is from Sandoz pharmaceutical, we spoke to them yesterday and they have discontinued the it sadly.
I am for sure. They have the capsules but not the tablet. My prescription was 3-27
Yes - My CVS here suddenly is out of Klonopin, a seizure medicine prescribed for many years. They said 2 weeks back order! This has never happened in 5 years being a customer there. Very strange.
Yes, I had to call 13 CVS’s only to be told that there was some type of glitch in CVS and that I should try another pharmacy. RiteAid and Walgreens had it in stock. What was annoying is that no one took the time to actually do a search to see who had it in stock. It was just, “sorry out of stock, check back in a few days”
