Adderall Backorder (Page 11)

I take generic Adderall 20 mg for narcolepsy and there is not one local pharmacy that has it in stock. I have never had this problem before. The pharmacies are saying that it's on backorder from the manufacturer. Is anyone else having problems getting their scripts filled?

thanks that's where I normally go but they have been on back order. went to publix next to home depot on 134 st and us1 and they said none there.

Same thing going on in Dearborn Michigan 20 mg adderall tablets nowhere to be found. No ones knows why or when they will get more..I don't understand its just on "backorder" everywhere. Stupid drug companies. Smh

Who can we write or complain to about this shortage? My daughter and I are both on 20mg Adderall and have been to, Publix, Walgreens, CVS, Target, Costco, and Walmart, with no luck. Two days ago with a doctors appointment and a new perscription for Adderall XR 20mg she was able to to get 30 of them for $124.00 with insurance. Usually her copay is $10 for the Generic 20mg Adderall for 60 of them. Something is terribly wrong. I don't have insurance and certainly cannot afford to pay the $300 for 30 of the XR's even if someone does happen to have them. I am at a loss as to what to do or who to contact. Why does the government always feel the need to protect the abusers from themselves while those with a legitimate need, pay the price?

I completely agree with you. The strangest thing is that you can't find anything on the internet about this massive shortage. Has anyone heard anything recent as it pertains to this crazy shortage?

The DEA sets quotas and supplies the ingredients to make the drug to the big pharm companies. This is true for all class II narcotics. That quota is based on an estimate made once a year. Once out, manufacturers have to wait until next year, hence the shortage.

We'll it's a new year. I've been looking since the 4th. Are we waiting for them to hit stores since it is the new year???
I just would like to know if this is a medication that will be back in our pharmacies by next month?? This is just so stressful. I really do not want to have to switch to something else but I heard the next closest thing to Adderall is vyvanse ? Does that sound about right to anyone ?

Yes, I ended up switching to Vyvanse but it can be just as difficult to get. It's name brand/costs more, extended release, and slightly different from Adderall. Might be comparable to Adderall XR.

It is a new year. My pharmacist says they have been trying to order it 3 weeks ago. I also couldn't find any information online for it. I heard it was an issue about getting one of the raw materials.

I live in Orlando, Florida, and I have been having issues getting my Adderall 20mg RX for 60 pills, filled anywhere. It was almost 3 weeks with everywhere telling me it had been on backorder! I tried Publix, and they had only 14 pills left in stock. They told me I could fill my RX for that, but I had to forgo the entire rest of my RX. This worked for me, because my doctor writes me a second prescription for the next month, and I can get that filled, (MAYBE?!).. in a few days. Since I had already waited almost a month, I went for this option. I have been breaking them in half to 10 Mgs in order to save them because I have a feeling it is going to be hard again when I attempt to fill my next RX. I am not sure what is going on, it is extremely frustrating having to drive around all day to different pharmacies, because most won't/can't tell you via phone if it is in stock or not due to some new DEA law. I did go to my doctor and he was willing to re-write my RX for a different dosage, but I do not think that would have helped, so I just left it the same, which worked for the 14 at least. I heard it may be a manufacturing issue, but for this long of a time?!!? I have been searching online for answers, and the drug companies, seem to be keeping extremely mum on this issue.

Why isn't the shortage listed under current drug shortages by the FDA. I can't find any info on this current shortage other than this website. I have emailed the FDA for the shortage and I think if everyone does it, maybe then it will be addressed.

There's a shortage on all dosages. My doctor recommended switching to 10mg 4x daily, but I couldn't find 10mg anywhere here in Tampa either.

There is literally no adderall in any dosage at any pharmacy in Tampa, and I've called them all. They keep saying "back order," but a pharmacist I spoke with today explained that production of the drug has literally been halted indefinitely due to DEA regulations. This could last for months. In my opinion, it seems like some sort of ploy to force people to buy outrageously priced brand name drugs.

Extremely aggravating! I grew up in Tampa, and my friends who live there and have prescriptions for Adderall, are not experiencing problems filling it anymore. RIGHT after the new year, they were though. I have called Walgreens corporate, and they said that Florida and Denver are being hit the hardest with these new laws, when I asked them to elaborate, they would not. My doctor told me to avoid Walgreens for this reason, they have become increasingly sketchy since the new year. I am sticking with Publix, they seem to at least have SOME answers. I will let everyone know what happens on January 30th, when I am due to get my next RX for Adderall filled, since I had to forgo way more than half of my RX for December due to them not having enough in stock to fill all 60. VERY ANNOYED!

Same thing going on here in Los Angeles California.
I have a script for 5mg 2times a day and here Target is a good pharmacy. They told me its been back ordered from the company for about 3 weeks with no known reason or certainty when it will become available again.

I'm from Nevada and I had issues with filling my prescription at the beginning of the month. I ended up having to go to a pharmacy a few miles away. One thing I noticed is that the pharmacy I filled at carried Corepharma adderall, while the two (one of which was Walgreens) I tried to fill at were getting their supplies from Teva (I know this because I filled prescriptions at those two pharmacies previously). I'm wondering if it's limited to Teva? Anyway, I'm supposed to get my next 30 days on Saturday, and I'm a little anxious about it.


Also, I looked on the FDA website. If you look up Adderall in their drug list, it says that generic adderall in all dosages is discontinued. Some clicking around revealed that the specific company was Teva.
