Adderal Vs Generic

I had Traumatic Brain Injury 6yrs ago. Work related and I would much rather work my butt off than be disabled! My energy level is so low since TBI. I take 4 tablets daily of generic Adderal. Lately it's been hard to get the whole rx filled. I was able to get 5 days of real Adderal! Is it my imagination or did it really give me energy to get up and ready to go much faster than the generic Adderal? Within 30mins verses anywhere from 1hour to 4hours? I would really appreciate your comments on this. Thank you for your time.

No, it is not necessarily your imagination. There can be differences between generic and name brand medications. There are allowed to differ in the amount of the active ingredient by as much as plus or minus 20%. The FDA considers this an acceptable therapeutic window, because in most cases, it is a difference of only a few milligrams, if that and for most people it has no effect and causes no problems.

However, some people are much more sensitive to any variations in medications and a generic that does not have the same exact amount of the active ingredient may not be as effective for them.
