Actual Amount Of Lorazepam
UpdatedI was originally taking .5 mg of lorazepam (manufactured by Mylan) sublingually twice a day with great results.
My latest prescription is manufactured by Sandoz & comes in a smaller size pill. It seems to be less effective than the one made by Mylan.
Where can I find a comparison of the actual amounts of lorazepam used by different manufacturers? I understand Activas/Watson also puts one out as well. I read that companies can stay within 20% + or - of the original & still be considered as an acceptable.generic. How is that possible since the amount of active ingredient would vary?

What you're talking about is the Hatch-Waxman Act of 1984.
Ref: Hatch-Waxman Letters
Basically, in an effort to bring generics to market faster to help underinsured, or non-insured consumers, some requirements were eased to give manufacturers some leeway, and yes, that includes an allowable difference of plus, or minus 20% of the active ingredient. The FDA considers this an acceptable therapeutic window, because in most cases, 20% of the given milligrams isn't a significant amount.
Unfortunately, some people are very sensitive to any changes in their dosing, and they may experience unusual side effects when taking a slightly more potent generic, or they may find their medication to suddenly be ineffective, when taking a slightly less potent generic.
Unfortunately, the measurements aren't always made public, and the only thing you can do is try what your pharmacy has provided, and see how it works for you.
Alternatively, you could speak to your doctor about only using a name brand to avoid the discrepancies.
Are you on any other medications?
